Tales of the Travellers Event Review
#1
Firstly thank you everyone for coming out and playing in some not-nice weather.  We sincerely hope everyone made it home safe.

If you could please regale us with your thoughts on the evening, we would deeply appreciate it.

Good things, things to improve on, and your favourite moment.  Smile

This event was an absolute hit. 10/10.
Pros:
  • NPC's were super on point. From Alex Heintz' Carmen, to Britt's creepy fucking corner wild elf. Stellar job on everyone's part! I wanted to just keep interacting with all of you, and if I didn't have some business to clear up I probably would have just basked myself in alll the Npc's glory. Y'all were amazing.
  • Plot: While I generally try to not intrude on anything huge there was a good mix of small puzzles and things to do at even which kept you busy. There was never really a dull moment at game, which to me is fantastic.
  • Seeing old Pc's I thought were dead. (Jeff Barth) - I legit grinned from ear to ear, it is always a treat to see or interact with people that you've known from so long ago. My only regret is that I didn't talk to you enough.
  • The Dark Sermon, thanks to everyone who showed up! Oog you all were lovely and participated! It really helped my anxiety XD and while the sermon may not have been the best, there are many more to come.
  • The combat pits, while cold it was still a joy to watch them all. They were in a completely separate area and the main room didn't feel too crowded with everything.
  • Brittany. Just everything about this woman never ceases to amaze me. I cannot stress enough how amazing your costuming and just everything was. I could have just sat with your creepy ass all night long trying to talk to you haha.
  • Interactions that I had with Robyn's mystic - having some weird candle reading really brought out emotions.
  • All the new Raze followers! <3
  • Borderline shady talks with Sevatar.
  • WINTER COURT FAE <3 - By far my favorite court. They are so lovely, terrifying, but lovely. Good job on Robyn for playing that role, as well as the terrifying Red Caps waiting for us in that fucking blizzard outside. It was nice for the room to be split - some people dealt with the combat while others tried to figure out the issue inside.
  • Seriously, I feel like I could go on forever. This event was bangin and only reassures me that this year is going to be just as amazing. Thank you so much for this event, to all your hard work put into this. I always get my money's worth and I look forward to shoving Aeval towards drunk aja, scary wild elven women, sassy bounty hunter guild leaders, and much more. <3
Cons:
  • The Mage competitions. There is always a place for Mercs and Templars to fight it out with their weapons, but nothing really suited to mage's. We always either have to throw packets into a circle for some weird aiming contest or just at each other. There just never really seems to be anything for us in terms of combat, we only get intellectual puzzles - which is great! But when you are given some puzzle pieces and you have 20+ mages we all can't really participate.

I'm still coming off the emotional high of this event given how much of a roller coaster it was for me and for Carrion for a number of reasons.

Pros:
- The Aja were great, I have been wanting to see a group of them in action ever since I read what ten of them can do as far as their racials go. Glad that we were able to help them not die???
- Aeval's dark gods sermon and the turn out. So so glad it went well for Carolina, I saw the work that went into its planning OOG and I also want to thank people for taking the time to contribute.
- The story seemed super solid and I'm really looking forward to where it's going. I have so many theories. Please imagine me sitting in my basement with countless notes and strings connecting pins spread across one wall like I'm tracking a serial killer.
- The variety of things to do. The fighty people seem to have fun fighting things, folks were having fun poisoning themselves, and I was able to go heavy into PC RP between chatting with seers given the environment of the event.
- Food.
- The props and costumes! Special mention goes to the freaky blood wytch/wild elf/Redhawk??/spoop lady in the corner with her skulls and runes and the Aja seer's costume.
- Various NPCs being patient with me as I sprinted around trying to keep track of where people were, who I should be talking to, and what the hell was going on when the general crowd and loudness got overwhelming.
- Bemusement changing to actual dread as the Aja seer went from awkwardly bumbling through guesses about Carrion's upbringing to mentioning someone from his past by name.

Cons:
- Most of what I was doing was pretty self contained so I don't really have any.

I had fun. I don't have any cons to list but I want to give out some highlights. I know I'm going to miss some too because there was a bunch.

+ Great interactions with new(ish) (to me) characters: Victor, Claudine, The Carnal Fae and her companion, Alec. I feel like there's more but my brain's still a little fuzzed.
+ And other less new characters. Y'all know who you are or should.
+ Bounty Hunter's Guild plot. I hope the influx of fresh faces enjoy it like the past members have. And hopefully will continue to do so.
+++ Ramsay's personal plot. Ang's card readings. I appreciate the effort involved in things like that. It helped me perk up and get back into the mood of the night.

I loved this event and am so glad I got to attend this! The venue was beautiful, plot was interesting, and all the NPCs and Shapers were fantastic. Thank you everyone for all your hard work!

Pros:
• NPCs were very interactive and engaging. It always felt like there was something happening and things to do.
• Ramsay's seer + personal plot. Having someone reread your backstory and take the time to talk to you about it, even for a minute, is so flattering.
• All plot really. It was so well done.
• The fighting tournament was fun to watch.
• The food was excellent and I had fun hanging out with other PCs I haven't talked to in a while. PC interactions are always one of my favourite parts of coming out. Everyone's role play is fantastic!

Cons:
• Was there a Mages Competition..? After event I was told there was suppose to be a mana fight style competition for casters but it got cancelled due to lack of interest. This confused me because me and a few other casters didn't hear about it at all.
• Some of the music was really depressing and a majority of it wasn't very danceable. 2 outta 5, could not dance with Cora.

All in all this event was amazing and I don't really have any complaints, I loved it! This really started the season off on a high note and I can't wait to see what else is planned for this year! Thank you again for a wonderful night!

I'm going to keep his short. I don't really have any cons at all.

Pro's that I have:
-Getting to meet people that I haven't really talked to before. The RP was great. I manages to have conversations with people who I have really never talked to before.
-Shout out to Ramsay and his amazing memory!!! It was amazing to get my fortune read and completely freak out when finding out what was happening. You da best!
-Breanna you are the best friend ever. It was great breaking down crying and having you try to comfort me. It was so cute !
-The food and the people working were amazing!!
- The aja's at the side trying to read your future with tea were the best. Adam, I just want to know what my future is so that I can leave, and then to have Brittney come up. Girl you crazy creepy, but amazing.
-It was amazing to play this new character and have the ability to try new things with people really being nice about it. Even though there was no fighting inside I was still able to sleep and hallucinate people which was great. (Sorry not sorry Gurr Smile )
- Overall it was so much fun and sorry if I broke anyone's eardrums!

This was such a lovely event to introduce us all in the new year. It was entertaining, the food was good, and I'm intrigued to see where this season will take all of us.

Pros:
- Food. The fact that I was fed first, before anything else, makes me happy.
- Everyone's reaction to Scrump. I put a lot of care into making a super creepy doll, and it's just really fun that everyone played along with me, so thank you!
- Seeing Roland as a Draconian for the first time - his makeup was on point (kudos to Rebecca!) - in fact, everyone's costumes and makeup were really great this event! I feel that's probably due to the lack of combat and fear of impending doom, so there wasn't as much clunky armour obscuring the hard work people have put into their character concepts and costumes. A++ Everyone. Including NPCs!
- The fortune-telling was really spectacular. It added an extra personal touch to the game, which I've felt in the past has been lacking. The fact that anyone could do this, and that everyone who did walked away with something personal and unique to them, is so cool. Loved this. I saw some really great RP result from this, so yeah. Looooved this.
- The alchemical drinks were hilarious. We should have more of that.
- As a new fighter, I really loved the opportunity to participate in the combat competition! I may not have won, at all, but it was so much fun!
- Personal thanks to Lilith for setting me down while I was paralyzed, and to Little Rock for fixing my arm position so that I didn't ache today!
- I AM NOT A DEER
- Oh. And being arrested and then unarrested. I might've had a slight heart attack.

Cons:
- Yeah. Not a lot of music. No dancing. I mean, Scrump's great to sway with and all, but I was hoping for something a little livelier.
- The fact that the mage's competition was so much later in the evening. I understand that space was limited, but I also feel like combat players generally get to have their go first. I also understand this is a combat-oriented game, but speaking as a past spell-caster, it's not always great to be an afterthought. Maybe announcing the order of events at the beginning of the night could've helped prevent this lack of knowledge or interest in the competition? I get that it's important to "hook" players with a specific NPC, but still, there should've been an announcement.

So this event had a mixture of highs and lows for me.

Highs
- Defeating a Bear by myself and taunting it around with a number of repels and and snares.
- Fighting some Redcaps and not even being slightly afraid
- Having the runes read by Angela and having the results being eerily true
- Playing Poker and coming in second by doing nothing but folding
- Calling Lilith a Witch not even 10 minutes after she proved that she wasn't by moving a WitchMark

Lows
- Music, didn't get to hear much dancing music and I didn't hear Start Wearing Purple the entire night, #disappointment
- Food, while dinner was tasty, I didn't get to try any of the cheesecake that went around (I know, cheesecake and I DIDN'T get any) and I didn't see any other treats or desserts the entire night
- Merchants, or rather lack there of. I found everytime I spoke to an NPC about trade the standard answer was "We still haven't unpacked, we will have to see what we can find" I didn't see any rare or unusual items that were mentioned.
