"When the Cat's Away" August Event Reviews
#11
Pros
+The everything

Cons
- Having to arrive late because of a late work shift. Missed the cave thing.
-- Having to leave game again for an unexpected work shift. Missed everything from 1:00 to the next morning. Someday... someday I'll see these tournament games.

Hopefully the next two events I can give my full attendance and finally get out to NPC during the day. It's interesting to see plot unfold behind the scenes. It's like writing a book that helps out by offering all kinds of ideas. I'm looking forward to see how all your characters evolve with each other over time.

time to start the list as I remember it

pros:
*got some new people into Stormvail
*RP with Pc's and NPC's, both for good and bad...you know who you are and im coming for you (insert evil laugh here)
*winning the race with thirteen steps...did no one see that coming before the race started?
*getting out of the true fae game first
*Out running a demon

Cons:
*running out of gass globes before the demon fight...will be fixing that problem now

Awesome game was awesome

Pros:
+ The Cave/Dungeon Mod Friday, and trying to talk a Gargoyle into letting us leave peacefully
+ Camp Einher joking until 4am
+ The Aja caravan accepting Callum as a bet in the games, and the resulting betting of people
+ The Fae games were terrifying for those not grabbed... was actually shaking while waiting to see who wouldn't be coming back
+ NPCing Sunday because my costume was soaked from Saturday's pissing rain
+ The Einbolds

Cons:
- Hearing about love alchemy for the first time. Its seems really... date-rapey. Could PCs possibly play familial or platonic love in those cases?
Just to save people from getting really uncomfortable

That's a good question. While love alchemy is always romantic attraction, the big thing to note about it is "nor will they behave contrary to their moral code unless the love-object can provide adequate reason". If your character wouldn't normally bump uglies on the first date, love alchemy isn't going to change that. So you can feel free to play madly in love in a quiet, reserved way if that's the way your character (or you) would feel most comfortable.

Pro's:
-Having the most emotional experience of my short LARPing life with the Ancient Fey and the Death Scene of Zero.

Con:
-Not having the death scene in game and have more people around for a more emotional impact on everyone.

To everyone who shed tears for Zero, you guys/girls are amazing. I love this game.

Pros:

+ Waking up in the middle of the night to the high pitched screaming of "Booooootyyyyy!" As kobolds went screaming around our camp. Got my boots on and got out of the tent just in time to see a half naked Einher go tearing after the last one into the bushes. Decided at that point it was a better idea to go back to sleep.
+ Somehow managing to do well in two of the contests! Big Grin Epic stuff came with that.
+ Managing not to let the demon land a single hit on me. This involved lots of running like hell, and Uther getting in the demon's face, but yay!
+ My personal plot nonsense resulting in the final battle on sunday being largely my fault. XD Oops. That's the last time I listen to anyone when they tell me not to kill something I've just downed and made very angry because they want to WAKE IT BACK UP AND TALK TO IT BEFORE WE LEAVE.
+ Bees flirting with people. Big Grin
+ The major mod on Friday night where we went down into the tunnels. That was so well put together, and so freaky! More like this please!

Cons

- Torrential rain. Sad Since I have to wear a lot of face paint, that rain resulted in a lot of me hiding and praying to whatever gods were listening that I wouldn't get grabbed by Fae lord because I did not want to have to go out in the rain and lose all my makeup.
- Too many plotlines happened Saturday evening at the same time. Constantly trying to go out on a mod and it literally took 2-3 hours of other shit getting in the way before we finally managed to go do a quick ten minute mod. There was lots of free time earlier on Saturday when some of this stuff could have happened.
- Maybe this one was just me, but lack of merchants! I actually spent way more time out of camp and in and around town centre and the area this time, and I did not manage to catch a merchant ONCE. Maybe they weren't obvious? Maybe I just had bad luck and timing? Not really sure.
- Outdoor tavern area needs a bit of lighting. Maybe a few battery op lanterns, maybe some torches, or maybe we could hoist a few lights up on the beams (heck, I'll help with it) that we could plug in, but we need some light. I believe there are lights actually there that could be turned on? They should be in the evening. If it's a tavern, it would be lit inside, and it would encourage people to go there and hang out a bit more in the evenings instead of just lurking in camp and getting bored and going to bed when there's too much of a lull between critters attacking. More lighthearted PC interaction, more potential drunken brawls, more people smushed in one place to get attacked, what could possibly be wrong with this plan?

pros:
there were a lot of hilarious things that happened this event!
the flirting bee Tongue (who made maeven jealous, so that made it even more excellent.)
the highway men
the archery tournament (here is looking at vali and austin as the farmer who lost a child and still had to work)

having fun things like this throughout the event is awesome. it doesn't always have to be about killing stuff and trying not to die.

the cave! what a cool mod. especially when we all ran like chickens without heads to get out of there safely. (and to the small group that attempted to ruin said mod without knowing what it was... i didn't do anything except be the look-out, i swear!)

and then the boss battle! epic.

cons:
rain. but... i also really liked the water elementals, watching them dance.
i was also wondering about the lack of merchants (and lighting in the new tavern.)

___
also, first character death. i have been initiated into larping.
