I was really impressed with how you guys handled all the setbacks. There were fewer players , a lot of the players attending were new and the torrential rain!
I can honestly say I had an amazing time and I enjoyed meeting the NPC's you all crafted, The lower PC ratio meant I got to interact with them and learn all the little quirks you all put in.
The Dungeon mod the first night was really cool, I liked how intricate it was!
My favorite random encounter ended up being when the Kobolds raided our camp in the middle of the night only to be dispatched by halfnaked Einher.

Great game again guys!
Tossing a bottle at some bandits "Was that a bottle?"
Almost coming in second place in the archery contest with said trowing bottle
Dancing around the zombies for a good long while taunting them all the way
Trying to get highway men to pay a toll
All the different gambling games were fun
Einbolds gathering shinnies for Odin

Freaking sweet event! Had an awesome time!

Pros:
+ Mostly for myself, but having my mother there was a lot of fun and eating food she prepared gave me plenty of energy for the battles.
+ The Friday night dungeon crawl was so much fun and mega scary! The glowsticks on the ground provided just enough light for safety and the low-light really fit the setting.
+ Muthafucken L00T! After not bringing back anything of value last event, I got plenty of good shite this game. Thanks to whoever was in charge of that, I think it will inject a lot of life into the game's economy to get some good valuables into PC hands.
+ Getting to play the assassin NPC under the guise of being a merchant was probably my favorite part of the weekend. The looks I got when I stuck my stiletto in Vitner's back were priceless. Plus, it was kinda cool to be one of the first characters to perform a hit on a nobleman.
+ Managing to kill a spider by myself on Saturday! Big Grin Lucky for me he seemed to have run out of web!
+ Stuff still happening despite the deluge was cool. Fighting water-elementals in the rain was fun, despite my cloak, boots, pants, shirt and self getting drenched.
+ NPCing for the first time brought some nostalgia from high school back from when I was a member of the improv team. Improvising multiple different roles in a 4 hour period was unbelievably fun!

Cons:
- That deluge on Saturday was nuts and soaked all of my socks.
- My chainmail needs some adjusting to spare my shoulders some pain.

Overall, an awesome event! Thanks to all the shapers and season NPC's! Big Grin

Man..... First review in MONTHS!

Pros
+ The Dungeon... I thought I was going to get trapped and die.
+ The games. Very well organized.
+ Silv. Seems every game we get to be better friends. I remember when we wanted to kill each other, and now you allowed me to take one of your medals and fight along side you to kill...
+ THE DEMON!!!!! Flynn, you magnificent man! Well fought my friend. You seem to know how to put the fear into the heart of me.
+ A True Fae's version of Jeopardy. Once again, scared i was going to die... and loved it.
+ Marco-Spider... you almost caught me.
+ The Grumpy Ol' Tavern Keeper. A group of PC's just doing things to get him angry, or as he called us "Pretty princess and his fairy friends"
+ Plot team. You guys are fantastic as always. You surprise me every event.
+ PC's. I love RPing with all of you. Keep it up.

++ "Hi. I'm Uther Dawnbreaker." Oh! So you're Uther." "Why does everyone know my name????"

And my only con:
- Vertical swings. I only saw two this event, but they are still very dangerous. I'm not sure if this is still being issued as a warning during newbie speeches, but i remember when i started a year ago that these were not allowed. I've been hit by hard swings, but nothing hurts worse than a down swing to the head. Please, I don't want to see myself or another person get seriously injured from these. It may seem cool and the best way to swing at the time, but it just isnt safe.

THANK YOU EVERYONE!!! CANT WAIT TO SEE YOU GUYS IN A MONTH!!!

RE: "When the Cat's Away" August Event Reviews - Rolin Smith - 08-17-2014

I just wanted to say thank you to the Ralinwood community at large. This was my first Larp experience, and what an experience it was. Forget the downpour that I was walking in a tunic freezing waiting on the next npc storm to hit tavern.. At some point I got my sweater. That rain and breeze was brutal... but I loved it. I must say that the vast majority of people that knew I was going to do this thought I was nuts.... It's a case of the outside looking in.... They have no idea of the effort, the dedication and the enjoyment doing something like this. I don't know if this was the LARP to end all LARPS but everyone that was there felt it... that anticipation.... walking back to camp (I'm stormvale) THATS pitch black. My favorite moment is repairing Shadolas' armor...No really... repairing Shadolas' armor... He breached his armour and a strap let go... quick fix and he's on his way.... I have so many great memories of my first LARP and it's all thanks to you guys. Unfortunately I won't be much good in the next larp, as I have to work, but I will see you all in october. Once again thank you to the shapers, and everyone I met.. I've aparently become Rolin a Smith of Shadowvale...

RE: "When the Cat's Away" August Event Reviews - Promises - 08-17-2014

Another wonderful event!

Pros:
+ The Dungeon was terrifying.
+ The Tournament was wonderful to watch, and participate in...
+ ...and THEN it was horrifying.
+ Pancakes.
+ Great roleplay with the PC's again. There's some definite IG tension and it's awesome.
+ Dancing in the rain as a Water Elemental.

Cons:
- None I can think of.

Hope to see everyone in September!

RE: "When the Cat's Away" August Event Reviews - Sassle - 08-18-2014

Pros:
Once again, very well organized.
There was almost always something to go and and find.
Marshals were professional.
Kobold wake up call.

Con.

It would be nice to have a dimly lit tavern area at night. For example when we were getting rained out most of us were just sitting in the tavern in the complete dark. There was light at the gaming table. I really think some mood lighting could have helped. Nothing huge maybe liquid lights on the tables, I know candles can be an issue with combat.

I got fooled again by a player on an npc shift. ie when the assasin hit Vitner I thought it was Zahkrii. It could just be me not paying close enough attention though. I had a similar problem in the July event in one of the big battles. I know it might be cheesy but maybe if your pc is a humanoid and you npc a humanoid we could use a wig or beard or mustache.

RE: "When the Cat's Away" August Event Reviews - Ellewen - 08-18-2014

Not sure where to start other than I LOVE RALINWOOD!!

Pros:
+ Fewer PCs meant higher chances to interact with all the plots
+ Interactions with the two-feathers and telling everyone to stop yelling. Plus standing in front of a lumberjack hoping he was not going to continue to hack the tree down with me in front.
+ All the wildelf stuff -OMG
+ Never being able to sit down.
+ Being called into a fae land because I am the most intelligent person!!
+ Dancing in the rain with water elementals
+ The whole weekend!!

Super Uber Pro Points:
The Friday night mod with the tunnels was executed perfectly. I loved how groups of us got broken up and how we all needed to work together to achieve the goal. Great RP by everyone in my group! Love love love that mod!!

Cons:
none!

I have to agree with Uther. I saw some pretty bad swings this event, I don't know if it was because it was in the heat of the moment or what.

Vertical swings don't need to happen at all. As well as baseball bat swings (more than 45 degree swing), a simple flick of the wrist, or a slight bend from the elbow will do.

On another note, thanks for a great game. I have never been apart of such a large and fresh batch of new LARPers before. You guys are great.
