Event Review: Lights in the Hollow

Playing Ember is great. It's so hard to keep my mouth shut and not care about what is going on around me.
Getting to rollplay with Lilith! Even if I am dealing with fea bullshit.

Big Grin had tons of fun coming out and NPCing.

Omg. Look at me writing one of these review thingys!

Pros:
+ The variety of NPC roles that i did friday night and saw throughout the weekend.
+ I HAVE MORE THAT CARRION AS A WARDEN!
+ Ferdouz asking questions that needed to be answered. I appreciated this everytime I was doing group gatherings.
+ Standing my ground against Hollanders Bounty Hunter NPC
+ Friday night dinner at Saturday in the afternoon.
+ Minimal arrests
+ Sword Dad. Mintha and Sheamus helping me again. And fighting Dustin.
+ Minthas and Zays sibling relationship makes me so happy when we are together at game.
+ The infamous Fae mod. So here is my deal. Fae are a rough fight as they do weird and tricky things. We as PCs went in blind and disorganized, and that costed us. But that's just how the game is. You're not going to win them all, and even if you do you won't come out unscathed. Besides, this game had one of my favorite and toughest fights, that being against Dan.
+ The elven rescue. Though i waited hours to do this, the pay off was worth it. Between mercilessly slaughtering greenskins and minotaurs in Llyandras name to escorting elven girls out fo safety. This for Zaydesh was everything to him. Along with town rallying behind one voice and fucntioning as a unit, it was great on both sides.
+ Sir Lightning Bin, The Stormbringer of Ryjak.
+ Sassing with Sevatar back and forth.... forever.
+ Lilith.

Cons:
- Getting scouting info, rallying town, and getting ready to go for a mod only to be told that im actually getting ahead of plot (not actually in those words) and that id have fo wait for another mod that is starting in an hout or so before i could do the one i was ready for.
- NPCs who claim to be yellow armbanded monsters when they arent wearing yellow armbands.

Thank you Dan, Ivanna, Britanny and the Plot team for a wonderful game.
Thank you to all the PCs who had fantastic interactions with me.

Pros: +Been a while, came back to an overall good game, even if the fae foes being a constant is a bit irksome.
+ Had fun pitching a god for some laughs
+ Enjoying the laid back atmosphere on the new PC, lots to keep me busy but not if I don't want to

Best Thing: This is my highlight, the stealth mod run for me by Justin Hollander was the most amazing thing I have done in possibly years.

Cons: I can't think of much. Maybe a bit heavy on thresholds? I dunno, not much leaps to mind.

I was only at game for maybe 8 hours Saturday but I'll write my piece:

Pros:
- people actually missed me and I felt loved. I got told stories of ice elementals and how people loved them
- I came to buy your weird shit and boy did I succeed
- being Riven's sugar mama
- helping Zaydesh fight one of the best rped NPC's EVER played by Dustin. My new aether thing was useful for once. Ramsey, keep up the amazing work
- flower picking for the farms (I love you Alex <3)
- the elves had a picnic and it got ruined by ants. That was hilarious!
- Killing greenies and tickle looting them to make them twitch
- Archery practice with Gnar Wink

- And finally: I am just so blown away by the amount of positivity, fun, and happiness I saw. The entirety of NPC camp is providing an amazing experience and the PC's are embracing it. I have never heard so many positive reviews IG about how people are having fun. I love this guild <3

Cons:
- A joke tag that said "see plot if you wish to sell". You have to understand, I'm a merchant who deals in joke tags. I want to sell it, so I went to NPC camp and got laughed out telling me it shouldn't exist in game. I enjoy that everyone has a good sense of humour, but please don't use item tags if you do not wish for it to be IG.

I was lavished with attention this event.
Lavished.

I'm going to try and do the event pro's and con's chronologically to get everything.

Pros:

+ You all seem as responsible as you can be with log. Everything is running smoothly these days. I was able to step away from the table after my timetable for getting to site was ruined, and it seemed to be handled flawlessly. Thank you to Sureeta and Adam, and for all of you with adjusting to us finding new ways to do logistics even better.

+ NPC Shift on Friday night. Everything I played was a delight from my side. Fae can be difficult to interact with so I tried to do my best to add something to them to let them be interacted with. I think all of us have developed an in-game culture of avoiding fae, which is -cool- and almost universal. I want to mention this one again at the end, though.

+ Hospital Meetings of Two, which actually turned constructive, into missing a town meeting, into running into bounty hunter NPCs, into people trying to hook plot. Ralinwood always seems to have something going on, whether it's the mods that have gone out, or just players in active RP that can be stumbled upon in our camps.

+ Camp RP. Emberside had some good long interactions. And we had a steady stream of traveling merchants, crunchies and visiting people to make staying in one place and making it 'home' a fun way to spend an afternoon.

+ Mage Guild Collective plot. Sevatar had to act as someone's councilor. I'll uh, leave that one unexplained. The crash course to ritual roleplay was appreciated as we have lots of people who have not done it. I think we're going to have to start doing some kind of introduction to rituals and I'm excited at the possibilities that's going to leave us to do them.

+ The infamous Fae mod was done incredibly well. People are fighting over tactics in hindsight. They're telling horrific tails of attribution. I had a moment where I truly thought we were having a last stand against an unending tide and prepared myself for death in duty. That mod did everything it was supposed to, and that some of it was terrible, was part of it.

+ Ramsay's personal plots have been a highlight of my game this season. Experiencing and watching others get. The man clearly doesn't stop moving once he's inside NPC camp and deserves as much recognition as possible. He ran across the entire site in the middle of the night to track down PCs for something he roped together. We're going to be telling stories about it for years to come.

+ ...Ramsay's personal plot for me. Amazing. I've never cried in game, and Ramsay got the tears flowing. Not just on me, either.

+ Dustin keeps getting praised for his NPC work for good reason. He knows how to make it become real.

+ Weather was good while we were out. Don't forget to praise it when it's good. It remembers and gets us later!

+ I handed off leadership of everything but the Mage's Collective. Be the next generation, you lot. It's a new season. I'm so excited to see what you do.

+ Lightning Bin

+ Panty Raids.

+ The Serpent's Tail

and last but not least,

+ A Knight's Duty.

Cons and Soap-Boxing:

- Ralinwood has a lot of Fae. We've been fighting it for so long because Fae plot is hard to interact with and it shows somehow in how the things that come out to engage us fail. I think we as the players need to be more flexible on occasion to join in. At the same time, it's okay to not want to interact with it. If no one engages with it, though, the same people are going to keep being at the front of it. If you're hating that, it might be time to take a risk and see if you like fae plot once you're in it. It is very rare that admission to something going on guarantees death.

In the wise words of Miss Frizzle: Take Chances, Get Messy, Make Mistakes

--------

This was a great season opener. The shaper team seemed accomodating, flexible, and in control of the direction of the game. I'm excited for June.

But seriously, Shapers, why are you all so obsessed with sleeping under tables in NPC camp? There are even spare bunks in Sapper!

Catalyst:
Hahaha they earned it.

Sleeping under tables:
We don't have enough tables to sleep under.  That's why some of us sleep in the cabin maybe.

Oh, also, hella impressed with the PC that refused my Dark Pact and then died. Top notch RP.
