Close a Window, Open a Door - August 2016 Event Review
#1
Lay it out for us.  The good, the bad, and anything ugly send to the shaper email, especially if you have a problem with someone whom you wish to name.

Please keep in mind that the weather is not under anyone's control.

I am hoping that everyone took home something enjoyable from this event.

Have at it.

So, we were only here for a few hours.
Everyone was hot.
Everyone was wet.
Everyone was grumpy.
It seems like that will probably effect a lot of people's opinions on the event but I thought it was a lot of fun.
I heard a few cool stories about personal plot coming to a close.
I'm left looking forward to next month. I think it'll cool off and be a great time!

Awesome game. I did not come to game expecting to be slammed as hard as plot did. Excellent job guys.

Pros - There was definitely enough fear generated to cause concern for one's life.

NPCing was a blast. You guys have one hell of a orangisation setup in there. It really made things easier to get geared and get out on roles.

I also enjoy some of the down time moments, where we PCS are left to entertain ourselves through RP. I have never thought it to be plots job to fill every minute of time with stories. It helps to build characters and in game relationships.

I don't really have any cons save environmental ones, which there isnt to much that can be done about.

All in all... I had a great weekend.

Thank you to everyone that helped make the weekend so good.
Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.

I'll admit, weather aside it wasnt a terrible weekend. Not a fav but wouldnt quit if this was my first.

I kept forgetting the world we live in and after some real thinking, this was realistic to the world. Things were stated for a full town to deal with but it just goes to show not everything is fair or easy. I guess I got so mad was because it felt unfair to nail us with such things on Friday night because we felt so under prepared and under gunned to fight. Getting hit with so much so fast so suddenly felt very jarring and almost cartoonishly unorganized. The Elementals were almost expected, it rained so they came out. We dealt with them and the world moved on, then DEMONS out of the blue. Put the 'holy fuck' into everyone that's for sure, the Land-sharks felt out of place for what was going on. Saturday with hellhounds and demons on and off kept some combat up, but I truly did enjoy the downtime and role play moments with characters and made me feel like I was actually in character rather then in dress up and fighting.

I'm a stickler for detail when it comes to NPC's and I talked to others out of game so any people I mentioned before to others dont be harsh on them, were adults so be mature about it please. Ok so for what I would like to see differently is when there are animals being played, dont have them fight like PC's. MANY times I had animals and elementals fight like PC's and that bothers the immersion right out of me because I'm on longer fighting a being made of pure fire, im fighting some smuck in a mask trying to very un-characteristically, tactically kill me. Also for the love of whatever you believe in, know how to gauge when your pressing in on someone to much. I had many times I nearly tripped over my own feet because people were so close to me because they wanted to hit me a foot away from me. Those are my gripes and hopefully we can get the challange we want without NPC's going overboard.

all in all a 5/10 weekend

It feels like I was out there for more then a weekend.

Pros:
+ Very obvious one, but, specifically, thank you for the scene in which it happened, guys. It was very well done and I appreciate it immensely.
+ Non-combat mods. The chess game and the Mage's Collective mod both had a distinct twist to them besides 'hit it with the fanciest thing'.
+ It felt like there was almost always something to do.
+ Some great roleplay betweens PCs. I saw a lot of deeper interaction, tried to be involved in a bunch of it. I don't know if I've ever had such consistent amounts myself. I try to the 'full experience' of Underworld, but, the roleplay is what keeps me coming out, and that was there.
+ (Food) Bribes for the logistic team. I never want anyone to feel like they NEED to, but, I appreciate it. Friday night can always be an experience and little things can go a long way.

Cons:
- There were some people who worked very hard, and spent a lot of their game, to try and make a difference with other plots, to find out that it didn't make one. I kind of suspect that this is to ease up on punishing the player base when there's an unexpected exodus? If the plot has been derailed in such a way that it becomes necessary, it would be nice to see some other kind of acknowledgement of that success. If there's ways to reveal something 'early' that doesn't actually change anything about what's going to happen, it might be better to reveal something that would let us prepare?

Neutral:
? One of these days I'm going to ACTUALLY get a chance to do my enlightenment.
? Stupid invisible scissors.

Second game at Ralinwood and better then the last (Which was hard to top)

Pros: Brittany (Wonderful, talented and amazing) I am in love with my new cloak and you are a gem among mortals (Not really a Ralinwood thing, but if you are looking for costuming at all, I HIGHLY recommend the jewel of NPC camp!)

YAY GROVE! I finally got to do the RP for my Grove and I got so totally immersed in it that I lost track of time (Thankfully I had a timepiece hung up so I could check) and truly felt like I was connecting with nature. Having a random Bear appear (Praise Valdur) and come close just added to that feeling.
Demons scared the holy hell out of me, I have always HATED being attacked by Demons because, well, they are deadly lol but it was fun to actually be able to take some of them out on my own without having to hide. I truly felt a great balance between Imps (Lowbies are able to kill) Hellhounds (Little harder) and big Demons (Better be swinging magic).
BEAR THE BEAR! Robert you are amazing to RP with, and I love every interaction. Training a Bear to eat from the palm of my hand hurt but was totally worth it. To comment on an above mention on animals attacking like people, Robert played that bear like an animal with all the proper movements and attitudes. +1 for Robert!

Cons - None really, this was an amazing event and I loved it.

Added Side Note: Last event I noticed a TON of Infernalism, and I mean DAMN. I almost expected the Grim to show up and slaughter everyone because of it. One player in particular I was not at all impressed with. However! This event I only had one instance where OOG and IG mixed and that had a very valid reason and I was able to simply excuse myself from the area and no one was upset. YAY IMMERSION!

Lots of fun NPCing the weekend, having an unusally large number of NPCs at times made it easy to take a break if needed as well as fill out more RP or small combat mods to ensure something could always be happening ("Shitty bandits/orcs!").
Only down side from an NPC point of view was the waiting for PCs to make it to mods. The elemental puzzle had 4 of us sitting down in Stormvale for well over an hour doing nothing and the first gate took much longer than expected and felt dragged out while sitting in NPC camp.
Also whoever was looting me by giving me a back massage, you made a very sore and tired demons day!
