I hope everyone's preparations for the war are going as well as they can.
But as we look forward to the good we can do on foreign soil, we must not forget about the problems that ail us at home.
Between the woman who is charming orcs, the Witherwing who have been seen picking off our townsfolk like wild boars, and everything else that plagues this town, enough is enough.
I am tired of watching friends be spirited away. I am tired of finding others impaled to trees with their entrails gone astray. I am tired and I imagine the rest of you are as well.
So I would like to do something unprecedented for us: call a town meeting.
We are finally taking the steps to become a proper town on paper, so let us act like one as well and solve our problems together. I know that Alec was going around trying to organize a council of sorts and I think it is a fantastic idea. So let us make this idea a reality.
Now, if everyone in town were to come to this meeting hoping to speak, we will be there for days and nothing will get done. So, in line with Alec's plan, if each camp that would like to have their voice heard at this meeting would elect a representative, we will convene and discuss the issues at large. As for when we should have the actual meeting, I imagine it'll be best that it take place some time after we have all made it home safe from the brood. Dates can be set whenever. So take this time to decide on whom will represent your camp and, once they have been chosen, please write their name on parchment to be pinned below this missive.
In addition, I will be donating 16 units of spare leather to the cobbler who was recently stolen from. If anyone else would also like to donate, your help would be greatly appreciated. It's for a good cause.

We in the Nighthenge Acanthus humbly request that both Demetria and I be allowed to attend, as she represents the United Light Church within Ralinwood, and I the interests of the Dark. Either of us could speak for the camp’s interests, but we can also voice the opinions of our separate congregations.

Well,
As stated on page two of our laws: The Republic strongly affirms that religion has no place in governance of this State; however, in support of liberty of the person, and for the promotion of free will, the Republic allows that religion forms an important part of individual expression and life.
In keeping with the spirit of this decree, I would prefer to restrict the representatives to ones solely elected by their respective camps. By allowing the church heads or an elected draconic representative to have seats, some people would receive extra representation at the meeting. Which would be fine if that was fair and equal to everyone, but it is not. Not everyone subscribes to a faith and thus their voices would be mitigated in comparison to those of their peers who have chosen a religious path. Even in regards to myself, as I am a member of a camp in addition to being the Warden Captain, was hoping to take a back seat and abstain from any voting regarding to decisions that may take place--at most acting as a tie breaker.
That being said, this meeting should be a product of the people's will. Thus, if the elected representatives deem it fit to allow the heads of our varying religious organizations to have a seat, then it should be so. But as for this first meeting, I think it would be best if only a single representative from each camp were given a seat at the table.

I was not aware that we were becoming government officials by taking on this council seating. While I agree with the matter of extra representation being a possible issue, it's an odd law to cite in regards to the situation, as I didn't expect we'd be making laws that might be biased by our faiths. I would go so far as to argue that during this tense time there is a good deal of reason a town council should reflect the opinions of local faiths through their elected leaders.
If it's not the place for that due to numbers, so be it. I continue to meet with those interested in the truce I proposed, so progress will be made there instead. I asked simply to express the wishes of those that came to me when discussions on who would represent us occurred.
On a related note, does this mean you will not be in attendance despite your rank as Captain of the Wardens, as you are also a member of my camp?

Representatives would still be taking on a civic duty so I thought it appropriate.
But as I said, further discussion of this topic can and should take place at the meeting. Honestly though, I'm more interested in people's opinions regarding the inclusion of our allies in such endeavors.
As for myself, I'll be attending to run the proceedings on a clerical level and to ensure legality but, again, I will be abstaining from any vote or decision making and delegate my opinions to my camp representative in the hopes that they adequately voice my concerns.
Remember, this is simply the first meeting (of hopefully many). We have lots of time to develop a proper structure and procedures once we meet.
This is new to us all.

Jake thinks the best way to break this down would be.
1 repersentative for each camp
1 representative for the goverment of duvian, as they are in charge maybe the regent?
1 representative from the wardens, as they enforce the laws and can proxy for the regent if hes needed elsewhere
this is just a easyer way to orgnize peoples without being an exessive amounts of peoples to get things done. this should keep the number of people down. if we start adding in orgnizations then its gonna unnessarly big. if the churches are given a slot jake thinks a slot should go to the bounty hunters and the mages guild as well.

I would like to propose that a representative - at least one - from the farms be included as well. It's an important voice to include.
