That Damn Skein Gate Lights Up Again ((T.S. 9:30 am, Nov 4 / 2258

"Hail, Sev, this is Ferdouz. He's here about magic stuff and wanted to meet you."
Ursel gives Ferdouz a nod before heading to a small tent by the gate and dropping down beside it with her basket.
Ori Moran: A purple feathered Avian with a red hat who carries a black and white shield. She has three Shadow Marks over one eye and a scar through the other.

Nelinha: Some asshole Ice Elf. Has a bright red hooded scarf and a black winged brooch.

A tiny gargylen pokes her head out of one of the tents after hearing noises. When she sees Ursel she waves to them.
A small, young looking Gargylen wearing a black headband over her horns. She's typically wearing some kind of scarf and flowers on her person. She carries a small wooden toy sword.

*Ferdouz skirts around the shrine, keeping a comfortable distance from it, and bows.*

"Ah, yes, hello. A pleasure to make your acquaintance. I hope I am not a bother, I do not mean to take up much of your time.

I was directed to you by a creature named Blank. I have just arrived and am here to inquire as to any laws regarding the study or practice of magic. I came from Berphaunt, where it was heavily regulated, and do not wish to find myself breaking the peace here out of ignorance as I did when I first arrived there."

*He also bows to the gargylen when he notices her.*

Ursel removes an apple from her basket, offering it to Demi and whispering something to her.

Demi makes a strange face at Ursel and shakes her fist. She smiles as she accepts the apple and takes a bite.

The staff straightens upright and Sevatar stands, turning around to look at Ferdouz. He looks incredibly tired.

"Welcome to Ralinwood then, Ferdouz. It is nice to meet you - and a Cindus'Thalan that speaks - as well. The only magic that the Collective here regulates is ritual level, and then, we ask that the head of the Collective be told if it is being done. And those prohibited by law in Duvain - Wytchcraft and Necromancy. Does any of that apply to you?"

*Ferdouz nods.*

"Indeed, I am a 5th circle ritualist in the four elements and protections. I do not cast any other magics, at the moment, though eventually I mean to learn the advanced spheres. I thank you for your direction.

Might I ask, it seems as though you keep vigil over this place - why? Perhaps the humble traveller may assist the master sage in his efforts?"

Sevatar looks over Ferdouz again. "Summoning is also illegal, but not something most of the people here can cast. We are of similar accomplishment and direction, you and I. Although I cast what is granted to me by Physignathus, and protections magic. My intention is also to learn those 'advanced' spheres."

His head turns over the gate, and a strange mixture of frustration and sorrow plays out. "This was a gate opened to hell directly. One of the townsfolk here was taken through. I watch for any sign of their return, or of the gate's reactivation. If we do have the means to destroy it, which I am not certain this town does, I would prefer to wait until we know for certain the fate of the one trapped on the other side. Have you encountered other hell gates?"

*Ferdouz thinks.*

"Indeed I have not. However, it may be that we can take a more proactive approach than to simply sit idle and hope for the best. If I may, perhaps we ought to center a ritual protection circle around the gate itself, thus restricting access to those invested to ensure security.

From there, how we address the issue of the hell gate is a good bit more challenging. I know a few summoners from Jericho. If one is willing to attend to us, we might pay them to bring forth a demon and bind it to a disadvantageous contract, forcing it to give us a starting point in retrieving your... friend.

I am unsure if this is tenable but it seems as good a starting point to me as any."

Sevatar lets out a long sigh.

"We have one person here who I would trust to help bind a demon, and she is on the other side of the gate, at the moment. If you know friends from Jericho that are able to do so, that would be a start. She was, in some way, either forced or willingly entered into a marriage contract with a 'Lord Trellough' to close the gate. So, the issue of the gate is...entirely challenging. It would not surprise me if she is able to find her own way out, or send word, at least. And so, I wait.

I've considered the circle, but if there was to be a daring escape from the other side, I didn't wish to impede anyone's fleeing from the gate. And so I've waited. But eventually, yes, it will come time to put up more permanent fortifications. Or destroy the gate."

He pauses for a second and the sighs again. "She seems to know everyone, somehow. If you've ever met a Lilith Caia, Mediator by trade, pain in the ass by action, she is on the other side."
