Greetings to all, Happy Highwinter past, and Happy New Year! We welcome 2260.
There are some matters to which we must attend. I first address some news affecting all of us.
As I am sure we have by now all heard, brood were spotted off the southern coast of Maud'madir around Highwinter's Day. The threat has abated for the time being, thank to the graces of the Aqua. Let me therefore assure you, we are safe here in our port. There have been no invading forces, chitinous our otherwise, spotted on land or sea, near Northern Duvain. If trouble should approach us, we will be warned and measures will be taken to safeguard our town. No alarm should be raised. We, sheltered as we are in the topmost corner of Duvain, are safe from harm. Be assured and take peace that grand forces do not intrude on us.
Let us also take a moment to recognize the courage and sacrifice of our brave Duvainian souls who gave up their lives to protect the United Fleet, such as it was. They enabled the escape of many other ships and countless lives which otherwise may have been lost in the unexpected onslaught. We will remember their sacrifice as a proud example of Duvainian courage, perseverance and ferocity.
And, with such news aside, I turn to our local matters.
A few days past, I met with representatives from our local Citadel encampment. After brief negotiation, the Citadel accepted our collected contribution from this month's... activities, shall we call them. The Citadel in their generosity and in the spirit Highwinter accepted ALL such items we collected, and have credited against the town debt in the amount of 65 Gold. Our debt is now reduced by this much. And further, the Citadel agreed to waive the interest amounting in this quarter. Their generosity will not be forgotten.
And with that, I bid you all a Happy New Year once more!
