Rule Calls on Archery
#1
Have some questions regarding regulations related to archery that are not in the rulebook:

First one being rules regarding shooting at night. I have been shot at by NPC's at night but I've never seen a PC use a bow at night. Wondering if it's just the rule that you cannot shoot at night at all or you are simply advised not to shoot at night.

Second one being there is a rumour going around I've heard that normal damage arrows no longer require tags. Is this true?

Third being breaking arrows on a 3-count, are PC's/NPC's still able to do this and what is required? (I was told you need at least +1 Strength)

Thanks

1. There is no prohibition on shooting at night, it is just an easy way to loose arrows so do it carefully.

2. The removal of tags from regular arrows has been discussed, but there has been no implemented rule so far as I know. If it happens expect an announcement.

3. Technically there is no rule allowing you to specifically break arrows, but it has often been treated as a counted action (see page 11 of the rulebook) Whether or not this is a legitimate action we should probably make a ruling on, unless I missed one on the Jericho side which is really possible.
I also have spent many happy years in Suvant.

1- Not prohibited, just advised heavy caution.

2- Nothing official as Brian said.

3- This has been hotly discussed since I started playing, still no official ruling.

My two cents... (my opinions, not rulings)

1. Not a big deal, but should be prohibited from shooting people around campfires at night. Someone shot me at the May event when I was standing two feet from the fire, and it's sheer dumb luck that I jumped back, because it surprised me--couldn't see the shooter. Was really, really not appreciated.

2. This would be awesome, and very convenient.

3. I think this should not be allowed. If we can't break all weapons on a count, we shouldn't be breaking arrows. Hell we lose them often enough anyway. Or make it so it takes +2 strength, then it's not willy-nilly. Otherwise every freaking monster out there is gonna start breaking arrows, every PC, and that's crap because we can't blacksmith stuff during event. I, for one, keep about twenty spare arrow tags stashed away because we already lose them often enough as it is to everything under the sun.

Jericho rules are not Ralinwood rules, unless they are written in the Rulebooks, or have been posted to Ralinwood directly.

They are two separate guilds, as such, they can do what they like, and we can do what we like.
