Workshop Event Review
#1
Hey all!

Post here your pros and cons. What was fun? Did you learn anything helpful? What would you like to see run again in March, or what did we not run that would be good for March? What would you do the same or differently?

I can't really think of any cons to this. IT was a good oog event in which we were able to socialize as well as improve our skills for the next game.

Good event.  I missed the one workshop I wanted to go to because it conflicted with another, but that's life!  It was a nice event to catch up with everyone.

Smile Enjoyed the sessions I sat in on. It was too bad there wasn't more people that went to the foods session. My only con was with the sessions held in the NPC building...hard to hear sometimes with the people going in and out of building & chatting in the back of the room...or interrupting session with irrelevant questions.   Great job everyone!

I was really looking forward to this event and the sessions I sat in on were informative. I do however think that the sessions were too long and I felt that presenters and the participants felt this way as I heard several comments. I was also disappointed that I could not get to all the sessions that I wanted because of conflict, but that is life. I am glad I got to see the site as I am thinking about coming out this season as a PC. The makeup demos were awesome. Learned a lot in the RPing religion. I wish I had caught more of the RPing combat.
Suggestions if you do this again
- make the sessions 1 hour and offer them in more than one time slot
- add a session for newbies (never been out) on general rules and lore
- Dustin, and Shamon did a great job explaining Dragons and Gods and they looked great in their costumes. It would have been very entertaining if they had role played an argument between a dragon worshiper and a God worshiper. The other guy was great too.
- the boffer building session would have been better if you got to make a boffer (maybe add extra cost for materials)
- I would have liked to see more demo's of different races and the use of more volunteers in the make up.

Went for the blanket, stayed for the company. Always good to see my fellow LARPing friends on the OOG level for a day. Can't wait for the February day mod!

Have to agree with Dex. The blanket and gathered players were why I was there. Would prefer events to seminar days personally.

I really enjoyed it!! I liked the workshops and learned some stuff I didn''t even now I wanted to know!! They for sure helped shape future characters of mine.. Seeing everyone was awesome too!! It was really nice to talk to everyone OOG for more than like an hour before game and 20 minutes after it.. I actually can''t wait till the next one!!

I think this went pretty well for a first time thing!

The seminars could have been shorter, probably an hour would have been fine. I liked the selection of topics, and the ideas of ones for new players would be a good idea, even if one was just an Q&A. I think one covering actual combat for newbies would help a lot, I know I had a difficult time getting used to fighting and calling out damage and remembering what kind of damage was hitting me, etc.

I'm glad I got to spend time with everyone oog and look forward to the next one ^_^
