Event Reviews: Memento Mori (All Hallows)
#29
Quote:-Really spammy on the "Sense Life" call. Maybe undead can only use it once per minute next time?

The 'spirit' of sense calls, as they have been explained to me, is to alert you to the presence of the things you are sensing, and give you a general idea of where to look. Once you get close enough that the 'here' responses are able to give you info like 'my prey is just in those trees somewhere' or 'just up the path but close' you generally look for them by eye or ear.

Its not really supposed to be sonar - but I know many experienced NPCs use it that way, even at Jericho, so people's ideas of how it should work are skewed. Sort of like the debate we had earlier in the year about render and shields, we learn from the examples set for us.

Of course, I could be way off base with my assessment, but that is my $0.02.

Just remember - everything alive should sense as life, even hellhounds, The Grim, and etc.! Its hard to forget when you go out on an NPC role that NPCs and PCs shouldn't be treated differently. For example, on Friday night I saw a human bandit NPC conversing with another undead NPC with a spirit glowstick, pointing out where PCs were for the ghost to go interact with, when the NPCs didn't think any PCs would see them. These are all nitpicks, but something to keep in mind.
