I use Calimacil and I honestly wouldn't thrust one at someone at Jericho either. Its a foaming rubber, which means the tip tends to want to naturally deflect more than compact. It won't maim someone, but if you get a little too much oomph behind it in the heat of battle, it hurts.

Love your NPCs. Follow the rules. Everyone is happy. No one has to make up stories about extreme sports accidents to explain their bruises and raw knuckles to their employers after a weekend at LARP.

Not that I know anything about that last one from personal experience or anything.
