What to bring?
#2
Hey, I've been playing at underworld consistently for 3 years now and might be able to help you out a bit. The biggest piece of advice I can offer is that you'll want to bring whatever you feel you'll need to camp out away from home for a couple nights.
Before even thinking about your kit (gear for your character), consider how much food and water you would need for a few days of running and fighting. Keep in mind Ralinwood has a tavern that provides food and drinks for breakfast lunch and dinner that costs you on average less than $5 in cash (I find that bringing an extra $20 to events goes a long way, but this can very based upon your personal needs and funds). Even if you plan to spend the extra money on tavern, I do recommend having some backup snacks and water for yourself in case you miss one of the tavern hours or just need some energy between things happening.
The next thing you'll need to consider is the weather going into a weekend and the cloths you bring. No one is going to chastise you for wearing your cozy sweater under some armor or a cloak, and we prefer you keep warm than worry about looking like a movie extra (though it is appreciated when you put a little effort to hide logo's and decals). You'll most certaintly want EXTRA SOCKS, shirts, underwear etc. since you may have to change these things out if you get wet/dirty... having extra cloths and not needing them is infinitely more preferable to needed them and not having them.
As an extra note for camping, bring a tarp to help keep you dry, whether this means hanging it above your tent or setting it underneath. If you don't plan to tent, there are always cabin's you can rent a bunk in, and details on how to do so can be found in the prelog posts made a couple weeks before game (these get posted to the facebook page).
Once you have your own personal needs met, think about the kit your bringing to game. Usually this is a combination of weapon reps, armor, and costuming, though it can include things like props. This is completely up to you and what your character needs. For your first game, you can just show up in your most "period" (historically accurate) clothing and rent a weapon free of charge. After this game it is up to you to craft/buy your gear yourself, though you can still rent weapons for $5 each.
If you have any other questions, feel free to post em here or ask on the facebook group, as there are many there who are happy to help!
