The Good
- It was cool to finally be inside the catacombs, and fair that wandering off alone would get you killed. They've always been a terrifying place lurking beneath the town.
- The firbolgs were fun to spend time with. Trying to explain surface concepts to them made for good conversation.
- Watching town work together to all save Roland.
- The mechanics of the goblin mod were also good, though a few people got confused as to how they could use strength since some ways of using it have just kinda been assumed over time I think? I also like that falling off the ledge led to more interesting mod, not just an immediate death.
- The final mod was incredibly cool. I didn't experience all the build up, but being sandwiched between a rock and an infliction radiating hard place was well done.
- Falcon/Nenia as smartest wendigo ever. People are super jaded to wisps yelling help and other single word calls, but I responded to Wendigo!Nenia's "hail" outside my cabin door two or three times before I realized something was unnaturally wrong.
The Less Good
- There was an overwhelming number of enemies with thresholds, leading some people to literally just sit down and chat during intense fight mods. I know this goes without saying that there was gunna be a buttload of undead, but I feel like having one firbolg bard song of heroism-ing on a drum now and then would have both facilitated more action and given people something to come together and defend, like when they rallied to save Roland.
- The infamous "now go record a death on your card" mod. I don't really have a diplomatic way of saying it was a not good thing to do. All weekend we had it drilled into us that we had to go places with guides, and that we were running errands for the firbolgs. Having a mod where an npc leads people off to meet up with a firbolg to do a thing for them and then telling them "sorry you got lost, go take a death" is just frustratingly cruel to players. Giving them an out by throwing them up against a punishment mod isn't much better. Not sure who did ran it but please never again. It's not a challenge or frightening, it's just going to make people angry.
Personal Highlights
- Seeing Lilith again! Y'all need help with your deals though good lord.
- "Who do I like in this town?" being followed by "I, Nenia, being of slightly drunken mind and sound body..." Really sad it ended up being needed, though.
- Like three of us all waiting for a wasp to fall into the trap.
- "Moist."
- "Gnar, do one thing for me, before I die..." "Yeah? "Nice fight me." "I'm not doing that."
- Insisting Demi was a fake druid.
- Riding out of battle on a giant albino spider after being picked up and placed upon its back by said spider.
- Hanging out with the cuddle kodiak.
- Probably more but I'm real tired.
