Hey, David Halforcen here!
So, seeing as how I was there for a grand total of 6 hours, you can expect this to be the most comprehensive event review in the history of mankind.
Event review!
First, some memorable quotes
David, when learning of 'nice fighting,:
"Oh gods, I need an adult!"
Barley, in a super creeper voice, leaning in: "I'm an adult."
"Let's show these Goblin McBitches how we do this down town" - unknown
Someone: "Wait, if you're a half orc, what's your other half?"
David: "human, pretty obviously"
Someone: "you do know that Orcs can only breed with other goblins, right?"
David:" I dunno, I guess I'm ether special, or my mom's a big slut. Who knows!"
"You know that multiple people can't cut out of a web faster, right?"
"Shhh... *we're cheating*
"
And now for my actual review!
So, this has easily been the best new player experience I have had at any larp, in my 15 years of larping. People were super kind, patient, and welcoming.
To all of the other Orcs in town, you convinced me that I chose the best race possible. What I chose on a whim actually made be feel like I was already part of something bigger and exciting.
To logistics, thanks for handling me showing up at 11, and processing me through, it was awesome.
Plot, I had very limited exposure to much on your end, but what I did have was very entertaining. Friday night was slow, but is was raining, and I can totally understand the need to not exhaust your NPC's, or have them get sick on the first night. Also, I get the feeling that there were a few times that the PC's just didn't take the bait, and that encounters had to be scrapped because low involvement on our end.
So, all and all, I had a fantastic time
One more thing, when I'm new to a larp, I avoid being critical about anything, because well, I'm new, and "who the fuck am I to say anything?" But I did find something interesting that I wanted to comment on.
Your game is dark.
Not like, sinister, or anything, but lacking in illumination. It's not a bad thing at all! But I was surprised when I tried to look up a light spell and not see anything. Only having light from alchemical sources seems pretty cool, and kick starts the economy at lower levels.
It was just totally unexpected, as no one could see anything!
Anyways, I had tons of fun! See you next time!
