I am sort of concerned that a shift NPC got to basically see my card as it were.

On this point, I'd like to reassure everyone that no one but the Shapers leading the mod saw your cards. The most shifties were given is the circle they could cast to, and your weapon damage.  Even that may be a little much for the comfort of some, but with as many as were being sent out it was an unavoidable evil.
