In the overcast morning, soft snow begins to flutter down over Ralinwood, settling atop the surface of existing snowfall, which is covered in the same sheen of ice as everything else.
The sound of grinding rock settles before long, but in its wake there is the sudden, loud, deep roar of what sounds like a massive horn, which shudders through the encampment. The sheen of ice covering everything cracks, the trees seeming to explode as the layer of frost drops from them to the ground around them. The noise lasts for about ten seconds before it suddenly, abruptly, stops. Not like someone had stopped blowing a horn, more like someone had suddenly shut a door that sound couldn't penetrate.
In the silence, the snow continues to gently fall. The circle of melted snow in the field seems to shimmer with dew, and sunlight begins to reflect off the surface of the ground within it, despite the solid cloud-cover overhead.
