Event Reviews: Memento Mori (All Hallows)
#1
It's that time again. Time to tell us what was good, what was not so good and what had you running for the hills. Please don't share anything that needs to remain FOIG. If you want to keep your comments private you can email them to contact@underworldralinwood.ca.

Post 'em!

Had a blast!

+Kyle, Nick, Feroa, Gennaro and all the other NPC's did an amazing job
+Could really feel the love and time that went into this event
+My favorite thing (of all LARP hallows time) was the spooky ghost reading from a hand written journal, so cool and creepy UH-MAZING
+Ran and hide a lot...what more can you ask for

-More specifics to come after sleep

Ted and I couldn't stay for the full event, but here it goes! In no particular order

+ hiding in the trees for almost an hour
+ having someone come to hide within touch of us and being too nervous to ask if it was Drakkon (and it was!)
+ having some horrible scary thing look into the dark cabin Ted and I were hiding in, with its face only inches from mine....and having it turn and walk away. But Ted kept saying "don'tmovedon'tmove" and BAM! There was, looking in again.
+ helping to kill a thing (my contacts here out by that point) in our cabin
+ seaserpant Big Grin
+ RP with my camp mates!
+ RP with IG friends!
+ RP with IG strangers!
+ using a couple of my tag skills
+ new armour from Murphy!
+ stats seemed well balanced
+ Mark's new character (I'm sorry...I think I like him better)

- lower back seizing up while hiding in the trees. stupid back...

Heather and I had a great time, I wish we could have stayed longer.

+ Great balance in NPC stats. Even as a low level I knew that there were SOME things I could effect.
+ I like how all the biggest monsters had a sound element to them, so you knew they were coming. That anticipation of danger is sometimes greater than being directly in danger's path.
+ Lots of loot, players seemed willing to fight more often than normal for halloween.
+ Love the cabins, and our cabin-mates. I really want cabins next year in Jericho for the cooler events. Sad
+ I didn't talk to anyone who didn't seem to be having a great time, including shapers and npcs.
+ Costume/makeup on the big monsters was top notch.
+ NPCs roleplaying undead. Zombies acted like zombies, ghouls acted like ghouls, even the silent skeleton was RP'ed well. I love that.
+ Funny moments at a Halloween event always seem extra funny in contrast.

- This isn't really a negative - the big monster's makeup/costume was awesome but I didn't get to appreciate them until I saw the photos. At the event I only knew them by the sounds they made. Maybe we should have left one of the outside cabin lights on, on Friday to appreciate how great they looked.

Big undead monster: "You can't hide in the woods forever!"
(Running into the woods with Ludvig): "Watch us!"

(Knock at the cabin door)
Me: "Who's there?"
NPC: ".. the butcher"
Me: "... who?"
NPC: "... the BUTCHER"
Levi: "No, he really is a butcher"
Me: "You're selling meat on all hallows? Where is it coming from?"

Angela- aka the noc of your nightmares.

i had the best event! all hallows are always my favorites.

+ i loved destroying sven. by simply dying in a pool of blood. after professing my love to him.
+ trick or treating as the toughest einher. and learning about nice fights. i couldnt even keep a strait face threw that.
+ banshee terror with sierra like the good old days
+ demon hydroxis!
+ praise cassan! "cassan" being super mad and blowing up a crossbow.

- i used to be a warrior like you till i took a boffer bolt to the eye

To npc camp; There were so many moments where I was legitimately terrified. Hiding in a bush knowing something is nearby.Praying not to hear that sence life call is a special kind of thrill.
To pcs;I loved that after looting and killing all night and attempting to murder a camp leader all I really got were some stern lectures. Welcome to lecturewood. Whoever started calling us "The shifty orcs" had the right idea.

My time at event was short because of important things but it was uber fun.

+ FINALLY getting to play the thing I wrote back in June and wear the things I've been wanting to wear for 2 months.
++++a billion times + Sierra taking the time to apply and paint my face. I couldn't have done it otherwise.
+ Stalking the cabins.
+ Chasing and crawling through the woods after people.
+ Being found at the start of Friday and getting picked up by the group only to start cackling and slashing away.
+ Finally sending out a thing I've put so so much time into. Please be gentle.

- Such a short stay, but for good reasons.

Great time, can't wait for next year.

The cabin was fantastic.
From the beginning of the game strategies were made and broken within the first hour.
People grouped up, were divided, made new groups, divided, rinse repeat.
Every time we met up with new people it was 20 questions about if they knew if our other friends were alive.
I thought I saw Hydroxis but someone said no thats not her. I sigh and walk away but it was her!
Next night I show up again to find out she just died! *Cry*
Sunday starting a family!
I loved the doll! and the book was amazing. The effort put into the book was incredible. The time Brian took to read it kept us very busy and entertained while adding to the anticipation of the undead attacks over and over.
Taro!
Under the bed!
Dwarven gas!
We did a hell of a lot of screaming, running and crying but for the most part the group I was with was able to stay sane with hearty jokes and looking on the bright side.

I had so much fun this weekend.
+ People seeing Vidar for the first time in his Hallows warpaint. "Are you alive?"
+ Berserking with my skinning knife.
+ Making a rival out of a demon because I shot him with a slay, nearly killing him.
+ Running from the Grim and other baddies Saturday night.
+ The final fight with my rival... If only SOMEONE didn't heal him, I would have killed him
+ The feels... Being a new character, I have no plot nor any real connections... but seeing my friends go through what they went through... heartbreaking.
+++ I DIDN'T FINAL!!!!!!

No negatives.

See you all at High Winter or Next Season!!!

Such a great weekend! I am glad I was able to make it out.

Pro's
Sleeping in the cabin, nice and cozy. This is the only reason I could come out in the frizzin cold.
Cabin mates. Such a good group.
My favorite part of the weekend was definitely the journal reading.
The Taro card readings.
Coming back to the cabin and sitting down to relax, only to hear 'Did you lock the door?' and then seeing something crawl out from under the bed.
The bell guy.
The leaky dwarf and Ludvic seizing the opportunity to cause shit. I think I laughed so hard I broke.
Drakkon is my hero!
Having wonderful conversations with Cassan and Poo in the Lou followers.
Moon makes every adventure cute.
Justice.
The little snacky poo tavern was so convenient.
Saving Iris from Nicks ghoul. Whenever I have to cast, I repeat in my head the incant because I always go back to I invoke healing. So I am very happy that I was able to get out nature instead.
I think I experienced every emotion this weekend, from down right futility lay down to die, to holy hell we did it excitement!!
I loved all the npc's I interacted with, whether it was running away from death, or rp. You guys were so good this weekend, never stopping. Where did you put the batteries?
There is probably more, but my son is waiting behind me for my pc, so I will add more later maybe.
I don't have any cons, this was amazing.
