A Change of Pace: Event Review
#21
This was quite the weekend for me.

Pros:
+ Not only getting my fancy new claws, but RPing it. Roland, you rock.
+ Seeing all of the plot pieces I've been collecting come together, even though I couldn't react IG to them due to being on NPC. What can I say, I've been trying to figure out Sheridan's name for four months IG and OOG, nice to finally have an answer.
+ RPing with Desara. Allowed Rajani to grow more accepting of Risen, but it was also nice to interact with a Savar character that actually knows Savar things
+ I killed a demon with my fancy new claws! (Even the demon was suprised about that.) I refuse to be crunchy!
+ Making craftman connections. Magnora would be pleased!

Cons:
- Rain + Savar = sad, but that isn't your fault
- On Saturday morning, we were confronted by the sheep farmers. I tried to RP with the NPCs about this, as Rajani is a tailor and should know these people as their main customer for wool, but the NPCs chose not to play along. In this scenario, or in a similar scenario (ex: miners with Roland) shouldn't the NPCs roll with what the PCs give them? Just a thought.
 "I don't really do handshakes."

Black furred Savar female, often wearing dark formal clothing and a large gear pendant as well as carrying a satchel.

I'm not sure how Ralinwood handles it, but my farmer in Jericho was harassing Shaper e-mail about farm things every month...for three years. Every conversation with her starts with "how are the farms/chickens". By now many people in Jericho are familiar with her being a farmer, IG and OOG, and occasionally they recognize her on sight because over the years and behind the scenes the relationship has developed.

In my head, if I were one of the NPCs I would've been unprepared for that moment: my entire reaction would be a blank "what" or "we get a lot of customers". I'm new to Ralinwood OOG and unless the Shaper gave me specific instructions that Rajani or other people came shopping often I wouldn't have recognized anyone.
Gnome Tinkerer, gold freckles and black, magenta and blue hair. Wears a tan cap, olive shirt and various devices. Probably sneezing.

Review on plot things!

(+) Awesome scene with the cannibalistic wild elf NPC when Émanne chased after him in the woods. Such tension!
(+) The urgent and immediate reaction provoked by the Mist Marauders was a thing of beauty.
(+) I liked the little things that made the game world feel like a bigger place, eg., seeing the angry farmers whose sheep had been eaten and the Ajaunti caravan with a broken wheel.

(-) I was confused by the damage call for the "purple plague" carrier when the pre-game annoucements said that there were no special rules for this event.
(-) Relying on player word of mouth to communicate "physical description" calls is awkward. People were saying that the town was visibly damaged? People were saying that the demon gate was in the middle of town when it turned out to be a hike away? There was a strange swirly storm when it was sunny out? There were annoying IG/OOG situations with RP getting retconned by OOG corrections.

As one of the farmers on that mod we were not told to show any special treatment to any PC. You also have to take into consideration that they were pissed off that they were stolen from so not likely to act favourably towards anyone in town since the culprits were tracked to town and they were bought off by one citizen with no one at the Tavern really trying to help them out. Not exactly the reception that people who provide food for the town are expecting to get from those responsible for their defence both from the theft and the "we don't really care what happened to your sheep" attitude. So they're not likely to be all chummy with you at that point.
