On the matter of Writs...
#1
I know that many of you have been requesting information regarding writs so here is a quick run down:

A full Writ of Citizenship is granted after a year of living in Ralinwood.
Until that time, you can gain free, three month Writs of Protection.
Writs of Protection grant you protection under the laws, unless you are convicted of a crime.
In the event that you are convicted, you are then stripped of the temporary writ.
Both writs function the same, aside from the fact that the Writ of Protection is stripped when convicted of a crime, while the Writ of Citizenship is not stripped unless the crime committed is particularly heinous.

As for writs of use, we will likely be working on a three month paid temporary writ to judge your character.
After this probationary period, if you have proven yourself of sound character, you will be eligible for a paid yearly renewal of the writ.

Writs of use are required if you wish to use or carry controlled and or illegal items / magics. These currently include such things as:
-Necromancy
-Dark
-Wytchcraft
-Summoning
-Corrupted Nature
-scrolls / magic items that contain illegal magics

-Garrottes
-Stilettos
-Ambrosia

-Death Alchemy
-Slow Death Alchemy
-Forget Alchemy

Note this list is not exhaustive and may be subject to change with the development and mass production of new magics, weapons, alchemy, etc...

To obtain a Writ, please approach myself or Regent Turnbull.
Writs of Protection may be granted on the spot.
Writs of Use and Citizenship will have to go through the pavilions and may require some time.

After your request is made, it will be passed along to the pavilion clerks for approval.
Be prepared to explain why you are deserving of a Writ of Use and what you hope to achieve by obtaining one.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact your favorite Warden and we will do our best to answer your inquiry promptly. Alternatively, Regent Turnbull will be available in person, this weekend, on the 14th of April.

Thank you,

Will there really be a chance to obtain writs to use magics forbidden by the White Raven Accords? You've lumped them in with things only forbidden by local law, like dangerous alchemy and illegal weapons. Forgive my skepticism, but I'm surprised to learn that wytches, necromancers, and darkweavers would ever be allowed to practice openly in a town such as ours.

We are still waiting on her Eminence, the good and noble Lady Gomorrah, to come back from wherever it is she got off to so we can sort out how much the Accords will impact our laws. Duvain historically tends to hold a separation between the church and state so if there is to be a monumental shift one way or another we will update the laws and various law-related notices accordingly. For now such spheres of magic have been placed in the "don't do this without paperwork" list (and none of you have the paperwork), if it turns out they're actually banned and we've just been horrible teases to all you hopeful necromancers out there then we'll update it as soon as we know.

I await further clarification with baited breath, and hope the Wardens won’t be toying with the hopes of those particularly oppressed by the new laws too terribly. It seems an odd thing to announce at all without further discussion with the Lady, since we were all already operating under the assumption these spheres were illegal and not to be cast.

Operating under the assumption being the key phrase there.
We have now made it written and publicly stated that these spheres are restricted because for every person who decided to assume they couldn't raise the dead there are others who figured they could. This post is for the shit disturbers who can no longer say "oh, but show me where it's illegal" not the sensible ones like you. Before this it was a tad hard to get your hands on the Accords to see what all was restricted or not.

Then why not simply remind everyone what is illegal instead of hinting at the possibility we could earn writs before you knew for certain?
