To the good citizens of Ralinwood,

I have spoken to a few of you already, and interest has been shown for a paid militia from within your numbers. Those who volunteer will be paid a monthly wage taken from town funds, earned through taxation.
Please sign your name below to enlist.

With the history of your settlement, there must be a standing dedicated force for the protection of this settlement.

If an insufficient number of citizens come forward, then conscription will begin of those deemed fit to serve.

I look forward to serving as the military adviser to this town, and protecting the interests of the people of Duvain.

While new to Ralinwood, I am willing to lend my shield to the defence of the town.

I am also willing to lend my hammer and Dwarven smithing skills for a small fee to help armour and arm our soldiers if you have materials for me to ply my craft.

Thank you for posting this...

Some citizen would like to know if there will be other paid positions. For example the hospital. Or would you like the healers to join the militia also?
What is the commitment should one sign up. Are you to be available at all times or would it be shift work.
Do you have an idea how many people you would like? I assume the more there are the higher the taxes there will be.
I also assume people on the fence may volunteer to avoid others being forced into service.

Ralinwood Militia Boss, Magnar would like to express, that he expects to have all of you come to him so that he may increase his war party for the town in size and number. He wants to call out to his fellow greenskins, orcs, goblins, troll, ogres and kobolds to come and join him so that you all can show the enemy that this town is yours and not to be messed with. The rest of you are also invited to join, just no 'cassan' types or a man named Samvel. If they do not get enough people he says that people will be strongly encouraged to join as 'Boss Hargrave' stated. He also says to specifically make sure that Barley the minotaur makes sure to join the militia. *Militia is scratched out.* War Party.

Wow, I leave Ralinwood for a weekend and a militia forms?
Was the general population informed of this? Is the general population of Ralinwood in favour of this?
Is a militia really necessary, given that in the past we've come together as a town to defend it without having to monetize the town's defence?
Why hasn't tax support been given to town services that already exist? The hospital, to my knowledge, has been servicing the town for two years already with payment for it's workers coming straight out of citizen's pockets. I'd much rather see my taxes going towards paying the people that have helped keep me and others alive this past summer than lining the pockets of the people who already pillage for the spoils of an enemy rout, myself included.
