To Whom It May Concern;
It has recently been brought to my attention that people are still feeling uneasy and upset over the events that transpired over one week ago in regards to the mission through the Portal. It has also been said to me that people blame me for these events. I have apologized time and time again to those that have spoken to me, but allow me to issue now a formal and public apology. I am sorry for what happened. I was given information, which I relayed to those in the town that wished to join me on the mission. It was supposed to be a fairly easy expedition with minor to medium fae encounters. Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond my control, the Portal that we were supposed to use was damaged and our intel was off. As we fought several waves of Fae, from Imps, to Redcaps, to Boogeymen and all other sorts, we were trying to find a way to reactivate the Portal so that we could retreat. We found a glowing orb that seemed to be the cause of our trouble with the Portal and since I felt at fault for our being there, I did what I had to do in order to reactivate the gate. I was willing to sacrifice my life in order to do so, and was only saved by the quick thinking of a good friend. Had I known others were dying at the time, and had a say in the matter since I was apparently dying myself, I would have offered the Life used on me to be given to someone else. I would have apologized that night, but sadly once we were through the Portal something happened that I cannot remember and I apparently disappeared for over half a day. I recall nothing of the time between exiting the Portal last, and awaking in the Tavern.
Those are the details of the events as I know them. Any items that were found while we were through the Portal were kept by those who found them, and anything that was given to me to try and figure out how to reopen the Portal has been either returned, or turned over to Warden Captain Zaydesh. I am sorry again if people feel that they were not justly compensated for their time and effort during this mission, but as I informed everyone before we all went through, I was willing to accept nothing except what we were specifically looking for. On that matter, what we were looking for was not discovered in those Ruins, but we did succeed in closing the Portal for good, so that no future events can transpire and attack the Town while we are unprepared. Yes, some lives were lost, and I am morose over it, but hopefully it will all be for the good of Ralinwood in the end. I do fear that had we not entered the Portal and done what we did, the Portal would have remained open and those Fae, and many many more, would have used it to attack Ralinwood directly.
So once again I am truly, from the bottom of my heart, sorry for what happened, and I promise in the future that I will be more diligent when I am needed to organize missions that are seen as necessary for the survival of our small town.
Thank you for reading, and I will be around if anyone wishes to speak to me on a more private basis on this matter.
