If I were to attach layers of nicer looking false leather to the 1.85mm leather to make it >2mm, would it be up to standard?

Hello folks, just wanted some insight on something to carry my Bellator II sword on. If it can be on my back, that would be ideal, but if something on my side works as well, then I'd be willing to go that route as well.

This is the 2 hander I'm working with:

http://www.calimacil.com/weapons/all/two...sword.html

Here is one option for a baldric:

https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B001GTY0Q4/ref=...g=UTF8&me=

All of this looks ideal but I'm worried about the fit of it on my body (I'm 6'2" tall and 180lbs in weight) as well as the straps not fitting the sword. Should I get this baldric or something similar online, or am I better having one custom made? What have other people done?

Thanks in advance all!

Does anyone know of a decent guide for crafting a bow from scratch?

I've seen a couple rough guides about using PVC piping, heating it to make it pliable to bend into shape, covering with foam, etc...

But none of them that I've seen have brought up how to attach the bow string properly and how to ensure you have the right amount of tension for a LARP, which seems like the more difficult/important part (for safety/functionality/durability purposes).

I've found plenty of great guides on building safe arrows, so that's no problem

So I've seen lots of guides suggesting I use pool noodles instead of pipe insulation in my boffers, but none of them have really answered a basic question I have... How do you secure the noodle to your core?

The couple youtube videos I've seen just have them sliding the noodle on the core and then securing it with a ring of tape at the bottom... and that's it. I don't know if that seems super durable or safe to me. What happens if the ring of tape keeping the noodle on breaks? When I use pipe insulation I use carpet tape up the length of the rod to make sure the foam is secure and will stay in place, but with pool noodles I don't see how you'd be able to slide the noodle on if there's tape present.

Anywho, I'm still a noobie at boff crafting who doesn't know any better, so I thought I would ask the more experienced crafters how this material works? I'm working on a silver dagger right now and wasn't sure if I should use the noodle I have laying around.

I want to make some really nice scroll reps from leather and I had a few questions because I'd heard rumors that the scroll rep rules are oddly specific.the reps I'm planning would be time consuming.

Can they be made from any material?
Can they be made to be part of a bracer?
If I have them attached to a shield or something and its destroyed , do the scrolls also get destroyed.

Please don't just point me at the rule book.
Thanks all.

So, in preparation for game this month, I ordered myself a studded leather vest off of a website.

It's simple, it's studded, and it's cheap. Perfect startup armor. I liked the look of it, I liked the price of it, and they had it in my size. It finally arrived yesterday, just in time for the game! Only... it's waaaaaaaaaaaay smaller then the measurments on the website claimed. They claimed it would fit up to a waist size 44", but I can not get the straps to close on it at all, even though my chest is smaller then that. Regardless of wether the straps close, the front and back panel are small on my frame and I don't think I would have gotten proper armor scores anyway. On top of that the duty fee's upon crossing the border almost doubled the price. Ouch.

So! Now I don't know what to do with it. I called their support number, and they couldn't help me at all. I could return it, but the shipping costs would mean I'd make no money back. I can ship it back to them for an exchange to a larger size, but they'll only pay the shipping if they measure it and determine the sizing on the website is wrong. If they decide the measurements are fine, I'm stuck with the bill of shipping it back to me with another duty charge as it crosses the border a second time.

So I don't know what to do with it now. It is a decent piece of new armor, but I can't wear it. My sister fits in it, but she doesn't think she'll be using a leather vest. I could exchange it, but that's a gamble and possibly a money sink. So I could use some advise on what I should do with it.

This also means I'm once again without an armor rep for game. If it comes down to it I have my bracers I can wear to game and just skip on the vest this month, but it sucks to have spent so much time and money on this thing already and I've nothing to show for it.

Does anyone think it might be possible to trade it or sell it to someone it might fit on? Maybe there are some local-ish leather crafters that might do a trade with me for something I can actually wear? My sister and I skinned a leather couch last week so I have some larger pieces of leather I can trade as well.

At the very least if somebody could loan me a vest for this event that would be a big help.

Thanks so much!

So, as it is my second game with Ralinwood coming up, it's time I had a permanent tattoo design for my wild-elf character(thankyou to the shapers for being lenient with me as a new player). Tattoo's were discussed in character and it's likely that Valna received one between game sessions, so now it's now a matter of picking what tattoo that will be for next game!

What I wore for half the weekend were simple blue battle-paint markings, and while those are fun, I don't think those should be my tatts but just simple facepaint my character can apply before a big battle. For my actual wild-elf tattoo I was thinking something celt-ish on my forhead centered on the bridge of my nose. I've been looking at Dalish tattoo's from dragonage for inspiration, and while those are close, they're a little too large and elaborate then what I'm looking for.

I was curious if there was any in-game canon reasoning/meaning/symbolism for the tats that the elves have? There's plenty of spiritual beings and magical powers in the game one would make symbols for, so I'm curious if there's any resource for that, or whether it's all entirely up to the player to provide their own meanings and markings? While I like the freedom to do whatever I like, there's also alot of fun in having a symbol that ties more into in-game lore or is maybe something other players may recognize. Just wondering!

Any help for resources or inspiration for nice tattoo options would be much appreciated. ^_^

Hey all.

So my attempts to make armor reps for myself have failed horribly. I went to buy boots at thrift stores to cut up to make bracers and greaves but between being unfamiliar with working with leather before, and also not actually knowing how to spot the differences between real leather and fake leather, well you can imagine how well that went.

So now I'm in a bind. Currently I have only a pair of bracers which I'm almost positive won't be thick enough to score armor, and the boots I wore to the last event which I'm unsure will score or not and won't find out until I get them marshaled.

I could really use some help. Will there be any armor vendors at the event this weekend? Could anyone possibly sell me or loan me some older armor reps for the event? I'd like to have some armor as I'd rather not get my new character killed at her second game.

I know there's the new players 'Knights' package that might help but I need at least a couple physRep's at a minimum, right?

Thanks so much to anyone that can help out!

Hey'all

Just getting started on my first spear! I went to the hardware store to get the basic supplies to get started and.... it did not go as well as I'd liked.

Are the weapon cores listed in the rulebook correct? ...Are they inches? The measurements in the book are often not marked at all as to what system they're from. The rulebook said a 1.25(I'm assuming inches) core for a spear, but when I went to get a PVC pipe, well... it was really huge. Like reallly really thick. Almost ridiculously so. I don't remember the spear I used on the weekend being that gigantic. Are the measurements a suggestion or a rule? Are they an upper threshold? It seemed like the 3/4" or 1" pipe was around what I'd seen at warcry from the rental boffers. Will I get failed if I got with that core instead of 1.25"?

Also I'm running into difficulty finding open cell foam. Does anyone know a good place in London to get some? I only have the honeycomb style at home and that's not usable for the thrusting cap I need the spear to have.

Lastly it was suggested to me that I use pool noodles for the padding on the spear. They had some at the store I was at, but I thought the foam felt a little stiff. Are pool noodles recommended or safe to use? Or should I just stick with normal multi-layer foam pipe insulation as the padding?

Thanks for the help!
