Any of you who reach the docks notice a seaman chasing after a rather large, black-and-yellow salamander with a bladed tail, proportionately the size of a 2 metre-long alligator, carrying in its maw a clear glass sphere attached to a silver chain. It slithers across the ground in the way an alligator would, and turns its head every now and again to see if it's still being pursued.
At one point it turns to face the mariner fully, causing the human to falter and hesitate. After a few moments, its eyes flash, and the fight goes out of the seaman entirely. Huffing, the creature turns about and lazily moves to the end of the dock. Looking back once more at the human, it leaps off. The seaman waves, looking sad to see it go.
