Zia keeps knitting while others some in and say their pieces, working steadily on to the toe of her sock, pausing to raise her glass at appropriate moments, or nibble on a cinnamon roll.
As more people crowd into the tavern to join the rest, or to raise their voices or their drinks, she smiles a little.
