Event Review: Sailor's Take Warning
#11
I had a good time while I was there, but reading through the reviews I feel like I missed quite a lot @_@  Still, coming out for part of an event >>>>> not coming out at all.

Pros:
I hid so well on Friday night that I had trouble getting out of my hiding spot
I still managed to find the gloves I lost the next day, but it took some looking!
Watching (and helping a teensy bit) the Arcanist Collective folks draw out the ritual circles was really super cool.  Maybe someday I will play a ritualist!
It is always super fun just to hang out and chat in character <3
(One of my favourite little moments was threatening to charge Buckley a silver next time he didn't remember my name.)
I had a great time on my NPC shift - being persistence stalked as a deer by Lombard (I think? The visiting Faceless, anyway) was probably the most tiring thing I did all weekend, and I enjoyed being a Murker as well.
There was a lot of cool PC-generated stuff going on this event, and though I didn't get heavily involved in much of it, it was still really cool to see/be aware of.  Also, I accidentally a farm!?
--The Dragon Party was pretty chill while I was there, but the company was good (see above re: chilling with folks)

Cons:
By the time I came back form my NPC shift, all the reasonable adventuring jobs that had been posted on the board were gone Sad
And this is as much about my own choices and timing, so not a 'real' con, but the only actual *mod* I remember encountering a hook for was the one to go rescue people from the Mist Marauders.  I know there were lots happening, but I missed them.  Next time!

I feel like I'm already forgetting things, but it was a good time, thank you everyone!

What a weekend! I felt like I got nothing done and yet didn't stop moving. Spent a ton of time just talking to people and relaxing that it was weird! Actually had time to sit down with a couple people and play a few rounds of Liars Dice which was nice. Going to start bringing more and more games, maybe the new Library will have a Games Section as well as books.

Pros!
- NPC camp, you guys are amazing as usual and have everything on the ball. We were ready, stated and geared up in almost no time that I was shocked. Screaming so much has made me lose my voice however, but it was worth it!
- Goril-las! I love the fact that when its Lamalas people are like "Oh hey" but as soon as that damned monkey comes out everyone freaks and surrounds me. #TimeToGoBananas
- Being Lifed as Goril-las and having Sevatar laugh his ass off since I was lifed by a Dragon Following Necromancer. Your reaction was hilarious.
- Hanging out with the Light Brigade on Saturday night was sweet. Throwing some Strength onto Oz and following him around while he wrecked everything was perfect.
- Cleric of Sybil, you made my weekend! A Bless AND a Relic weapon? I was hitting for Magic like a mo-fo
- The Tezoth (And Valdr) Just Knocked Your Ass Out Club! First Rule, ALWAYS Talk about the Club. Punching an ooze to death was a blast. WHY WONT YOU DIE!

So many more but my brain is still pudding and I can't think of them all

Cons
Only one really. Sense Calls. NPCs and PCs alike need to be reminded sometimes that if you hear a "Sense ____" call and it fits you, you need to respond Here. Friday night we were in the woods and calling Sense calls and we could hear people in the brush but got no answers. Yes I am sure there are ways to hide your "Sense", but its rare. We also saw lights on in a cabin, but when a Sense call was given, the lights went out quickly and no answer was given. So please remember, if you hear a Sense Call, respond.

I guess I should do one of these things.

Pros:
- Blood Red Rose Chapterhouse Ralinwood, aka, The Janky Knees Club for geezers that give away all their loot and bitch about the heat.
- I like Mist Marauders. Like, a lot. A grumpy and jaded vet, there is a quality to them that takes me back to my early days. We can fight them because our characters have been around forever, but it's a fucking challenge. The precursor of having peasants run through town screaming that they were coming adds an excellent tension.
- Using 90% of my skills and spells before 2:00 AM Saturday morning. That never happens to me.
- "Did you just save those two from those spiders? They would have died!"
"Yup. Now I'm going back to bed."
"But... you're mostly naked. With no armour."
"Yup."
"Umm.. out of game, your ball is hanging out."
"FUCK. SORRY."
- As I'm a visitor to Ralinwood, I don't expect a lot of interaction with NPC's that would be providing plot to actual Ralinwood PC's, which I'm totally okay with. But what I did get was pretty dang good.
- Dan: Did you like that? (When his NPC did a decap), me: Yeah man, I get that a lot now. Dan: Well what the fuck do you expect?
- Shoshana's fiddling ghost. Music for jujubes any day.
- PEACE(ish) between Dragon Followers and Light Followers. THAT SHIT ACTUALLY HAPPENS?!
- Paladin-ing vampires.
- Loot that feels balanced
- RP with the long distance visitors. Grand time, can't wait to do it again.
- Finally killing Ang's ridiculous vampire NPC on Saturday Night, and being told by Hollander that she really shouldn't have died considering how powerful she was statted. *flex*

Cons:
- Finally killing Ang's ridiculous vampire NPC on Saturday Night, and realizing that I fucked up the spell that did her in. Mega kudos to the Marshal for letting her stay dead, but being able to distribute the loot amongst the newbs. Good form and all that.
- The outhouses. What in the actual fuck. I'd rather shit in the woods (I didn't, shut up Dan)
- Effectively being told to clean my room by the site ownership when it was already a dusty mess inside.
- Still waiting on that dang meeting, Ivanna.
- Hawke and I need rocking chairs for that cabin.

Bonus Round Question: Saturday evening mist marauder & vampire invasion. From observation, a good balance of big, mean, hard to kill things, and smaller, easier to handle things. Everyone gets to feel useful, yay!

I could list more Pros, but it would just be an event summary. Very enjoyable.

I hope you folks don't mind a review from this far-away visitor's perspective

Pros:
- First off, this game was amazing! I loved meeting everyone and seeing how this game was run, and I'm especially thankful for the welcome mat rolled out to us Westerners.
- All three mist marauder mods were great, like Oz said a good balance of crunchies and tough as hell vampires.
- The Dragon party, watching Ludvic become a Draconian, being mentored a bit on my path, getting invested in the Draconic circle, getting to wield the Serpent's Tail, all the Dragon shit that happened was great
- I also enjoyed your guys's little bounty board thing, I ended up actually getting paid for being a mercenary, which is first for me heh.
- The food was pretty good too
- Punching an ooze to death

Cons:
- There were a couple moments where shifters got angry OOG at people, I won't bring up specific incidents but that shit is not cool.
- I'm also a little disappointed that we Dragon people never got to do the grand enlightenment due to all the rituals going on, but that's more a player thing.
- Lastly, I would like for mods to wander a bit more. It seemed like that if you weren't in a mod zone, you were safe from npc's most of the time.

Bonus:
- When I arrived Friday night and came through the gate and was immediately attacked by vampires, well shit that was super intense. We had no idea where to go, where anyone else was, and all of us Dragon worshipers had to stand in a Zone of Prayer or die pointlessly. That tension was great.

Time to chime in with my late, more thought-upon review:

Had a wonderful time with everyone at this event, and as always I can’t wait for the next one.

Pros:
+ RP with Rennovain. I love discussions on IG magical theories; especially those of the elemental variety, and Dustin H is always a treat to RP with.
+ Being a big asset to our team success on the Battle Mage trial mod. Being able to crowd-control the ghouls with swampwalk and ash one while providing the elemental blade to Tel from twenty feet away was awesome and I couldn’t help but feel like a bit of a badass.
+ Interesting RP with Ivanna as Kyrem attempted to console a distraught young child, something he is not accustomed to and definitely out of my usual comfort zone. Although, that’s one reason I LARP is to leave my comfort zone.
+ Always love a good marauder fight when town stands against them. The weaker Marauders give the newer guys something to handle while the bigger, tankier thralls are left to the higher level PCs. Then the vampires thrown into the mix to break formation and cause everyone who isn’t Os to panic lol.
+ Lamalas’ Gorilla totem is just awesome, and he plays it so well.
+ Jobs for hire on the notice board is great! I do like the party size suggestion on it too in order to give PCs an objective idea of how many people they need for a mod. In the future, it would be cool to see some that are marked for new players.
+ The patience of those who took the time to draw out all of those magic circles was something to behold. I wouldn’t have been able to stay on task like that, good job guys!
+ It was nice to BE a marauder for once and be on the other side of the running and the screaming. Also, fun NPC shift in general.

Cons:
- Lack of response to sense calls, which is uncool.
- I felt like there wasn’t a lot of free roaming NPCs during the day. I can forgive this though for it was hawt az fawk.
There is also a post-event con I’d like to add:
- I‘m a bit disappointed with the pictures from this past event. Not that there’s anything wrong with the photos themselves; however, I’m more so disappointed with the number of pictures taken compared to the content of the photos. Don’t get me wrong, they’re good photos, but most of the 252 pictures are of people standing around, sitting around, walking to mods or walking back from mods. And this isn’t anything personal against the people taking the photos or the people in them, I simply feel that given the number of mods that went on, there should have been much more variety in the photos.

*Note for Kyrem
Gorill'as will be back to entertain you again!

And there was one Job Posting that was listed for "Levels 1-5" that was grabbed by a small group of new players almost immediately
