A Word of Warning
#1
Last night, a creature was glimpsed in the woods by the town fire. It paid those gathered no mind, and was gone into the night before any could act.

We saw it for only a brief moment, but it was ugly, and dressed in tattered black robes. If you see this creature, please let me or Lilith Caia know. We're trying to better understand what it might be, and what threat it might pose. More information will of course be provided to the town at large when we know how to combat it.

Be watchful and be cautious.

Citizens of Ralinwood,

Last night the creature appeared again. We now know some details about it.

- It is perhaps some form of spirit. It can be seen by mystics, and by consuming other spirits can be visible and tangible for a time in the material plane. However, soon after it vanishes altogether, unseen even to a mystic.

- It can be struck when in the material plane, but is able to withstand attacks that would grievously harm most mortals, if they weren't killed outright. It's worth noting that the only blows to strike it before it vanished again were fire magic. Whether that's all that can harm it or not is left unknown, as no one else had a chance to attempt to strike it before it was gone.

- It is unknown if even the fire truly wounded it, due to its immediate retreat. Given how briefly it lingers, it may have simply returned to its home unscathed.

- It strikes out with magic when attacked, like a Templar can with their blade, though it  uses its bare hands.

Once again I urge caution and watchfulness. Mystics especially are urged to be on the look out for this creature. Even before it's visible for you, you may feel the chill of its presence.

I will be camping in the woods where the creature was last seen. It seems to be its hunting grounds.
If you wish to speak with me, or think you may be able to make some difference, I am sure Carrion won't mind showing you the way.

Last night the spirits of a young wilder girl and her bear cub were consumed by it. She wore a tattered dress. If this reminds you of anyone you used to know--I'm sorry. I wasn't able to protect them.

Remember: it feeds on spirits to become tangible. So, even though the living may be safe--for now--our loved ones who have passed are not. If you are not a mystic, and you lay eyes on it, obliterate it. For it has consumed another of our ancestors.
