Event Review - In Times of War
#21
Event was great. My PC is a bit of a depressed bastard, which makes it confusing during game, but after a good sleep I realized how much fun I had, and it was a lot.

Pros:
+ Great roleplay! I'm always trying to bring myself up to the level of others around me, and the level being done by everyone around me is wonderful. The immersion is great.
+ Barge mod!! I love the combat with a twist mods. I tend to favour the roleplay heavy ones still, but that's personal preference. The combat with a twist mods are great.
+ Exploring! I need to get out and look for insta mods more. It's a part of weekends I haven't engaged in much and would like to do more of.
+ Pace. It felt like there was always something to do. The small breaks that did exist were needed for a breather.
+ There was one mod I did which was fairly short, but NPC camp still did full make up, costuming, etc, for it. It was really cool and showed a lot of extra effort to encourage what another PC was doing. Thank you guys for going the extra mile on that one.
+ No Massive! Thank you. <3

Cons:
- I'm still getting used to some of the new tools in my PC's kit. I apologize for any immersion breaking I caused in getting them sorted out.

This was a great event, I really enjoyed it both running around as my PC and doing shift work as an NPC.

Pros:
+ No massive, always a bonus.
+ the Barge mod, just all of it was great. jumping between barges and the shore line fighting orcs and defending the people moving the barge.
+ Roleplaying with Vrael, just everything you did Saturday was great. from the barge mod, to Vali's Pyre all the way up to the stealth mission.
+ The stealth mission, mods with clear ways to do it without open engagement are always nice to see happen.
+ The Muse Cleric ritual. happenings with npcs that are not just around to kill us or sell things to us always make me enjoy the game a little more.
+ The orc battle in the rain at the end of the game, I was on the NPC side and plot cant control the weather but the rain added to the whole mod, love the feel of it and fighting with a dedicated animal companion.

Cons:
No cons on my part, all in all I enjoyed this event a lot.

Pros:

~ Getting knocked out by "Red Company" and being held captive. I legit felt fear and concern not just for my life, but the lives of my friends as we were dragged into the darkness and gagged. Serious;y guys, that was one hell of a fun mod

~ The night mod involving the orcs. I've not seen ANY LARP do stealth mods like that before, and you guys did an outstanding job with this. I remember after being caught and having five Orcs attack us thinking, "Just five? This mod isn't as hard as I thou- holy shit where did these ten other Orcs come from?!"

~ Being knocked down to my bleed count when I was JUUUUUUST in reach of the gate to escape and laying terrified that if I die I'd become a Werebear (was bitten on friday) and having to listen to Orcs talk about cutting me up to eat.

~ The birth of Hilvy.

~ The boat mod was chaotic and claustrophobic, and jumping from ship to ship to fight off Orcs was a blast!

Cons:

- While at NPC camp, I overheard several people laughing at how upset Adem P was about his character dying. I won't name names, but I found that was a massively inappropriate thing to do.

- My armour got busted up pretty bad after a nasty trip

- I missed Sunday when I made the choice to wait out the rain

This pisses me off to know then you know.

We put a lot of time in to our characters, a lot of blood sweat and tears.
Even after only having Luna for a few months, I spend Sunday night balling my eyes out over her. Yes I was prepared for her to die- I was sure I was dead on Friday. After the pre mod on Thursday I had been preparing myself for her death.

And I have only had her for a few months- Adam has had Ziggie a lot longer then that, and to hear the people are laughing at the lost of something he has worked so hard so, is really a piss off.

Overall great event thanks to everyone!

Pros
-finding RPing is becoming a lot easier for me this season with my new character.
-had much more interaction with other PCs this event.
-loved the orc barge mod, NPCing one of the orcs.
-final battle was AWESOME!....even in the pouring rain.
-other great RP...awakening to blood curdling screams from Muintir over Arcadeus' death...funeral pyre for Vali...reminiscing back in Muintir after that about Arcadeus...lots of tears.
-the Muse cleric ritual, well done, even though I was half expecting some kind of backlash...glad nothing sketchy happened.

Cons
-realize this is an 18+ LARP for reasons...and if you choose to go commando under your kilt...that's your business...but whether you realize it or not...squatting down repeatedly exposing your "parts" was a bit uncomfortable for some of us.
-I know in a couple of the orc mods (barge & final) the adrenaline is pumping in the heat of the battle...there were a lot of hard shots...we all need to be conscious of our swings...I certainly felt a lot of hard shots during the barge mod as one of the orc NPC...namely getting gang beaten a couple times on the barge that Drakkon was on...I know also in the final battle there were a few shots I made that I thought after, "I probably swung a bit hard there"...and will be more mindful as well.
-also archers please watch your shots in close quarters...took arrow to forehead in the barge mod...thank goodness for foam mask taking most of the impact...but still felt impact & stunned me for a moment.
-lastly,I know there is probably little control over the state of the porta-johns...but these should be checked frequently, given the number of people there, for adequate toilet paper (noticed last event as well) there were times where there was little to no TP...also last event & up til Sat night this event...no sanitizer...this can lead to serious health issues if there is no way to clean your hands after using facilities...gross!!!...also could there at least be a glow stick or something in there for illumination at night...I would gladly donate some if needed.

Overall I had a GREAT experience!

this event ended up being pretty fun, but i really missed brit and her shaping!

pros:
thanks pat, for letting me use your camera! ^_^
the barge mod turned out super great.
the final mod was fun, with the rain, and thanks slower for charming me (i freaked out pcs while hanging around you, haha) and swinging at drakkon near the end was satisfying :-P
the magical flower mod, the rp was awesome! everyone did such a great job and i didnt even get to see much.
ivanna on the tavern shifts, i really like her character
the gore mod! i didn't get to see all of it, but i am glad i npc-ed the farmer.

cons:
i missed out on vali's funeral! nooo!!
not being a spider.
i think the stealth mod could have been run earlier in the night. (and possibly the flower one, too, but it did end up working out pretty well.)

Alright here''s my event review!!

Pros::

++Combat States!! Everything was stated amazingly!! The Damage made sense,, it didn''t take over a hour to kill a single thing,, the effects were spot on,, the NPCs were just FUN to fight..

++Random NPCs.. I really liked how a large number of NPCs weren''t there to fight us.. Last few events now that I look back didn''t have that really.. I liked looking at NPCs holding weapons and not being sure if they are bad guys!!

++The RP in every regard!! Whether it be interrogations,, coping with death,, the Einish Thing,, trying to buy something or just having a chat.. It was all really really fun!!

++The pacing.. Most the time there was something to do and when there wasn''t,, you didn''t have to wait long till something did happen.. The waits were refreshing apposed to feeling like forever like they have in the past..

++The Games.. Having those few games was really cool I must say!! The Prizes were awesome too and some stuff you can''t really just find on random NPCs and gave the more non combat characters chance to get really good loot..

++Sad Doyly.. Sad Doyly is now my favourite Doyly to RP.. Crying on peoples shoulders or hiding under a tree for a half hour to be away from people.. It was just fun to do..

++Vali''s Funeral.. It was sad both IG and OOG but just awesome to be apart of.. That will be a very big moment for Doyly and I think has shaped him for a very long time.

++Doyly saying ""Why don''t we steal stuff from the orcs??"" and us actually doing it!! I was surprised we did that really.. I was happy Sassle said the water breathing thing!!

++ Gwen sneaking onto the boat after 2 people decided to piss off both sets of Orcs at the same time and wiping us.. She saved SOOO many people there and hearing her get to my body and just saying ""No."" as she went to the next body made ALMOST dying worth it.. It was pretty funny and the coolest thing to watch that event..

Cons::

--I only saw//get hit with 1 bad swing.. A person swung up at the wrong time and I moved at the wrong time and got a hard Boffer swing to the face which thanks to a wet patch of grass and the weight of my shield kinda sent my spinning to the ground.. The hit didn''t really hurt all that much and neither did the fall,, it''s just that I''m not used to people calling a hold for me.. That and if someone was closer they could have taken my shield to their face as I spun..

--The only other one was my fault.. I got hit with a Swamp Walk while I was using Stone Form and it kinda didn''t register with me at first,, I ran afterwards and I heard some OOG complaints.. The second I heard that and realized what I did,, I just dropped myself to 1 Body left.. I feel like it was the best thing to do at the time so that a Hold wasn''t called and the action stopped because of me.. Just wanted to put that here to let people know I REALLY didn''t mean to cheat kinda andand to let you guys know I didn''t just walk away.. If a Shaper or someone else thinks I should have done something else,, contact me please..
A Gargylen with a broken left horn, favouring a shield, and has a child like wonderment towards everything. He is also Head of the Hospital Guard, and due to recent events his Horns are now Blue and slightly sparkles.

Doyly, I think you handled that the best you could. We are human, despite our IG races, and yeah, we do forget things from time to time, but that is ok as long as we understand what we did and make some adjustments later. I honestly have done very similar things, and I am sure we all have or will at some point.

Also, this was by far my favourite part of the event, other than the Friday night raiding. Brian and I were literally, literally about to crap our pants in fear that Underworld Ralinwood (the business) would cease to exist. We thought we were done, and we were going to have to pack our bags and leave that very instant, but holy crap woman, you saved us! I am hoping that the orcs you sneeked past were RPing really well, and playing dumb to your presence, either way, thank you for being awesome and saving our (the plot teams) butts.
