Event Review - In Times Of War
#11

I felt Saturday suffered severely after ~6-7 pm, in the sense that we were already slowing down from then. There were no more large attack groups and the one that was planned was unfortunately scrapped. In the future this could probably have been avoided by paying close attention to npc shifting distribution for certain mods.

You are absolutely right on the distribution part Elias. When setting up log, we didn't know that the new players (And we had MANY) would skew the Shift numbers sooooo much. We tried to remedy this by asking people to change shifts. We have a plan in the future to fix this problem, and we hope that it goes well. Next event will tell us.

Thanks.

Pros:
-pcing again.
-Rping with old and new friends
-meeting and talking to the lord/ladies
-bounty hunter buiness
-meeting Lucy( surpisingly this made my afternoon, i never have npcs come out looking for me by name)
-having people scream my name for a hour, having people appricate my skills.
- making eye contact with someone during serious talks and you both try not to laugh ( Nick you know whats up)
-Jakes problem and the walking of the dog
-npcs rolling with calls and ideas
-No monologuing badguys
- bandit farmers, always need bandit farmer stories after every event.
-pcs being pcs. THIS WILL NEVER GET OLD TO ME

Cons (these ar not big deals, just little things)
-Kobolds didnt take my gift .ouch guys that hurt
-too much Rm, not alot of mundane/gold&silver/ gems(might have just been me but i like getting random stuff and gems from guys i loot.

-the crabs. I LIKED that these things were hard, and swung massive, not a big deal here, they are GIANT crabs afterall. the walking sideways was a good ballance. I did NOT LIKE how many were per wave(one maybe two less) and that they all stayed clumped togther on some waves.

-no monologuing badguys
Good, Bad  either way im the guy with the Gasglobe. .

Wildelf (Baby) male, seen dressed in leathers and Green and black attire. Im fancier than you.

A very hot but very fun event with lots of things to kill! Big Grin

Pros + Positive Highlights
+ Multiple HUGE battles! Holy crap nothing is scary like more than a dozen orcs rushing the town. The close PC:NPC ratio makes these fights so damn intimidating! W\
+ The Catapult mod was really cool! It was cool to not just capture but hold an area for an extended period of time. Also good mix of enemy units in both casters and combatants.
+ Decent loot! Finding a bit of everything is nice, I avoided the usual RM flood.
+ Very fun RP with both new and old PC's. Shout out to Jordan, Brad, Adam, Matt W, Shoshana and the player who plays Rot Tooth for providing some great RP highlights.
+ Thank you shapers/marshals for letting me play my favourite NPC role again! I love playing crocs/alligators! Also, thanks to the shapers/marshals for allowing me to run out on so many roles during my shift. I am always gung-ho to get out there again after popping and dropping.
+ Einsh rage duel + knife fights with Grimnir.
+ Being garrotted as a Murker, having Grimnir loot me faster than the garrotte killed me, being dropped, sitting up realizing I’m fine, grabbing my weapons and feeling before the PC’s realized what had happened.
+ Getting to use my racial ability for the first time when hit with murker spit! Ha!
+ Introducing my buddy Brett (who plays Jäger) to his first LARP event and getting him hooked!

Cons + Negative Highlights
-Some pretty bad swings, especially machine-gunning.
-Couple players not incanting spells before throwing them.
- Waking up Saturday morning around 8:00 and literally doing nothing for four hours until my NPC shift at 12:00 was a little annoying.
- Giant king crabs moving very quickly, swinging massive, having both destroy armour and weapon shatter, having above 4 normal threshold, fighting 3 of them at once in multiple waves. These guys were tough, and I don’t mind a challenge, but what was frustrating was fighting a creature that swings FAST for MASSIVE. Not to mention, they also had a threshold that I couldn’t touch with my sword. I think a creature, unless it is a large, solitary boss monster, should either have a threshold or swing massive, not both. Not at least until every archer in town has silver arrows. But additionally, if it’s a massive creature, I don’t think it should be moving or swinging as fast as I saw. Stepping in, tapping for 4 normal to a “no effect” reply and having to immediately jump away to avoid a very fast 4 massive claw was rather tiresome after a while.
- An injured player calling for a medical marshal during a hold with no reply...

Overall, other than some players needing to be re-taught how to LARP fight, I had a great weekend and my pros far outweigh the cons. See you all in June! Big Grin

There was a medical hold? I didn't hear it, I heard hold, but nothing for medical. ((unless the heat had got to me that bad, that it didn't process and in that case I am very sorry.
Sadly I did miss a large chuck of the game because of the heat.))

Pros:
+ Dustin you are an awesome high elf Big Grin it was a lot of fun talking to you
+ Einish singing circle. OMG Austin I was dieing it was so halarious.
+ Catapult mod was super fun and well balanced, although it was kind of annoying that I wasn't told to wait until all the catapults were captured to light the flare until the mod had already started >.<
+ Regular you have made me re-evaluate my perception of psyonics
+ Housekeeping kobold and Jeremy was a halarious combination! Dustin you were halarious. We got sidetracked so hard all night because of you two
+ SNOWBOLDS!!
+ Orc wave battle was intense, and the ritual backlash was AMAZING! That command tent was halarious and awesome, best place for all the doctors

cons:
- too much combat, especially for the heat, and when evening came and the big mod ended up not going out everyone just went to bed. Night is when fighting is fun cause it's not boiling anymore!
- Massive damage on things swinging so quickly> I wasn't PCing that fight but yeah that wasn't really that great Sad
- not enough RP stuff. No puzzle stuff. Snowbolds and Jeremy were the only thing I could interact with. The fauns were awesome but didn't want to talk to the orc loving wood fae Sad
- I agree with Brad that making an RM discount then sending out so much RM kind of makes that useless. I love the random clothing tags that you get and even if it's useless at least it's still satisfying.
-NPCing sunday morning because of merker culling when I really wanted to go back into game but my camp wouldn't IG help with something like that. It would have been nice t know sooner when that was so I could have spent more time IG, especially since I didn't get to use my bow anyways Sad

Sometimes there may not be a Medical Marshal present during combat. We try to have as many as we can, but combat can happen anywhere at any time. As a bystandard you are allowed, and encouraged, to run to Shaper camp to get someone. If the injured person can be moved, I suggest getting them out of combat, and notifying a Medical Marshal or Shaper immediately.

I hope they are OK.

Its not really a secret that I love food. Thank you to Red Robin Camp/Cassan for breakfast.

This is the first event I've ever found myself truly hating a PC hahahah . You know who you are ,purple shirtted elf.

I really liked that you guys turned up the creepy;zombies banging on our doors,Jeremy trying to lure our hoblings away in the night, the sketchy merchant and hyena/jackal guards. Very cool and one of the aspects that most drew me to underworld.

The mods were interesting and well planned, the catapault mod would have been tough to orchestrate but you guys definitely pulled it off !

The cabin was an excellent investment. If any of you are thinking of doing it next month I would recommend it. Quick set up and cleanup meant we got lots of extra time to focus on friends and fun.

Overall I have to say we're very eagerly counting the days until the next event.

I loved the catapults mod.
+splitting up by camp to hold each objective was great!
-I was sad though that people kept running after the horns were blown and the hold was called. I'm sure a few more people should have taken the hit.

I'm enjoying the theme of the year. The story makes sense and the mods correspond very well.
The orc wave battle was great. We were able to use strategic planning to cut down on the orc numbers and fight in a way that was advantageous.
+Eli playing the mage and running for his life when Ludvic charged him. This tickled me to death. I really wanted to chase you to the road and even thought about looking for you later.

I really enjoy repeating plot so to have the murker culling a yearly thing makes me happy and again makes sense. Having a full pyramid made for a fun battle Ludvic. Thanks to all the patient npc's who died to a death of a thousand bruises.
I mistakenly took a hamstring that I shouldn't have due to my ward stones. Elias took advantage of it as his crab which had me scared for my life but it was pretty funny being pushed around when he couldn't hurt me.

I had found plenty of opportunity for RP. Thanks to those in Emerald camp, it is a blast camping with you.

Sleep seemed very hard to come by and this had the biggest drain on me for Saturday. I was never bored but extremely tired.
