The Thing - Bikar Borba - 06-19-2018 Introduction It is my honor to be the Lendemen of the Ralinwood ‘Thing’. I will keep this introduction short sweet and to the point. An ancient and honored tradition ‘The Thing’ is held once a year. It is a time for communities of Einher to gather, discuss and decide the way forward. This Thing shall honor our gods and our culture, however we have been welcomed into a larger community, that of Ralinwood. All Einher are invited to the thing. This includes those who may feel unwelcome in the town at any other time, those who are apart of ‘The Thing’ will be afforded an amount of hospitality and protection. However you are not citizens nor will you be granted protection as such. All other citizens and guests of the town may receive an invitation to the feasting and games of the thing if they provide for the feast, a reasonable amount of food is required or if they bring a 3 gold donation. The donations will go directly towards the town of Ralinwood. I am in discussions with the Tavern for copper to purchase a plate and an invite as well. The Thing shall take place on July 14 Below is the summary of events and timeline of The Thing (Eindradil) A storm of Hospitality, Opening Feast Summary: The thing will open with a large feast. Any citizens of Ralinwood or guests of Citizens may attend, they will be asked to either bring an offering of food or an offering to Eindradil, 1/3 of the offering will be buried along the coast line to ensure safe passage for trade ships coming to and from the ports and to harry and dash those ships of our enemies and marauders. 2/3 of the offerings will be given directly to the town to finance with the specification that it goes to finance the building of defences and a Marshal force to protect our new home and bring our wrath upon those who would endanger it. Before the feast begins I, the Lendenman of this event will take this opportunity to clarify the rest of the days events. During the feast anyone may step into the center of the tables, if they do so they must tell a tale, sing a song or provide some form of entertainment, if they cannot hold the audience's attention, that is their own problem. The feast area is welcome to all you have earned and Invitation to the Thing. This will remain the staging area for ‘The Thing’ any and all guests are welcome and encouraged to set up and provide any entertainment, services, games or anything else that will keep the people's attention. Time: Ongoing. Start (12, provide 1.5 hours for feasting and general introduction) (Magnora) Crafting Our Culture, Banner and Circlet Build Summary: Two simple and practical contests of craftsmanship. The making of a circlet or headpiece for the new Jarl and designing a banner to represent all of the Einhier of Ralinwood and give them something to rally behind. Those who wish to participate may do so in groups of any amount of people and may get the assistance of any invited to the ‘Thing’. However one person in the group shall be designated the primary Artisan. Participants of the circlet/headpiece must bring their own crafting material and supplies for the headpiece, they may work on it from the time the contest begins until a Jarl has been chosen. When done they will submit the headpiece and name it. Participants in the banner making contest will be provided parchment and materials to mark or draw the banner, they may work on it from the time the contest begins until the Jarl has been chosen. When the Jarl has been chosen they will chose from the circlets and headpieces, and then the Einhier of Ralinwood will choose the banner that she will represent. Time: End of general Feasting (1:30) until the Jarl is chosen (Sybil) Fang and Claw, Huntgrounds Summary: The Einhier and Wild Elves will be divided into two teams. Each will have at least one animal possibly more, druids in totem forms are absolutely acceptable. The hunt will end when one teams animals have been successfully hunted or captured. Hunters of either team may attack and remove each other from the hunt through any means that will leave the target bleeding. All hunters will be provided a remedy on their person so that it may be used to recover them. Once recovered a hunter is removed from the hunt. All normal and legal weapons and non poison alchemies may be used. Terms of magic will be agreed upon by both teams. The hunt grounds will be all of the site, every 15 minutes a horn will blow and the hunting grounds will shrink. In the event of a draw the prizes will be split. Time: 2:15 (this shouldn't take more than an hour) (Valdr) Hammer of Judgment, Settling of Disputes Summary: Valdr is a god of judgment, he judged Haldora and judged unjustly. It is because of this he knows the burden of one who passes such judgments. He is also about conviction and moving forward by learning from your past mistakes. So it will be here in his eyes judgments and disputes will be settled so those burdened by them may move forward. Under the eyes and judgment of Valdr challenges may be made and feuds settled. Anyone may challenge anyone else when doing so they will state the reason for their challenge. The challenged may choose to decline and wallow in their cowardice and likely be insulted and jeered. If the challenge is accepted they will present themselves to incarnation of Valdr, here they will declare and agree upon the terms of the challenge, if a challenge to the death we ask that the laws respect the free will of those who partake. They will also agree that upon the resolution no matter the outcome of the challenge the feud will be buried, signed slips agreeing to this shall be collected and offered to Haldora at midnight so that the fued may forever be lost. When the terms are agreed upon and Valdrs hammer is brought down the challenge will begin. All Einhier are welcome to this event, any guests of the Thing may choose to attend this event but in doing so they will swear to those in witness that they will accept any challenge offered to them, they are still free to negotiate terms. Time: 3:33 on going if needed however other events will continue forward (Sverin) CHaOS BAlL, Or NoT? Time: Whenever Logistics: Maybe a ball Summary: A game of scoring a ball (probably) into a net with ever changing rules, they will be figured out later. Or Vidar says he will plan something. We will see what happens, praise Sverin. (Haldora) Lost and Please Dont Find Us, A Vulture Hunt Summary: A shrine will be set up somewhere and pieces of a lantern will be scattered throughout the town. The goal is to build the lost lantern upon the shrine, if a single person was to have all of the pieces, through however means they got them, Haldora would look upon you..if that's something you would want. There shall be the incarnation of Haldora, To become a contestant they must bring a offering to her as a ‘buy in’ this offering must be of value to Haldora. contestants may come to her and make an offering to Haldora. The more worthy the offering the more the dead will be inclined to provide insight and clues. The offerings will then be taken to the shrine, so that she may look upon them and take them and not upon us. Anyone may participate, even those who are not invited, Haldora cares not for who you are. If monsters or non citizens of any kind show up, it would be prudent to cause them no lasting harm, unless of course they endanger or cause problems, then kill them of course. Time: 6 The Moot Summary: All non Einhier will be asked to leave, no exceptions. All Einhier who are not citizens of Ralinwood may attend but are not permitted to speak or participate in any way. The grounds of the Moot will be consecrated through a sacrifice. Once the grounds are consecrated no weapons may be drawn, all participants will agree upon this. Those who do draw steel or attack others on these grounds will be killed on the spot by any and all in attendance of the Moot, again all will know this condition and enter of their own free will. At the Moot we will put forward our thoughts and ideas on what we would like to see moving forward. What we wish the Einish or Ralinwood to be. We will then decide upon our Jarl. When the Jarl has been chosen they will choose the headress/circlet they wish to wear, and the Einhier of Ralinwood shall choose their banner. Thus will conclude the events of the thing. Time: 8:00 until resolved. Being Drunk Summary: At this point everyone should have their bellies and hearts full and their tankards empty. Time: Until hung over or passed out RE: The Thing - Bikar Borba - 06-19-2018 *posted below a message in Lady Aminatas Handwriting* Let it be known that Governor Aminata Gomorrah Provides her undertaking and consent for the organization and carrying out of A Thing to be hosted at a time and date to be determined and announced. Permission has been granted for sanctioned and consenting combat, including the causing of a death, so long as the death does not result in the resurrection of the involved parties. Wardens to be in attendance to otherwise enforce the other Laws, which remain in effect. I look forward to attending this event. Governor Aminata Gomrrah. RE: The Thing - A goblin played by Matty - 06-20-2018 This sounds lovely, I can't tell you how much I am looking forward to the thing! RE: The Thing - Promises - 06-22-2018 I am also looking forward to the thing RE: The Thing - Bikar Borba - 06-26-2018 For those interesting in running their own events or games, combats or whatever else at 'The Thing' you are not only welcome to but encouraged to, if you have something planned let me know and I will add it to the schedule. Those who intend to bring food dishes as price of Entrance to 'The Thing' I have been asked to remind you that there are those in the town who are deathly allergic to nuts, so much so that their souls will never see resurrection again in any way. It would be decent of you to not include nuts in your meals and not kill these people in a way that we would never see them again. Any Merchants who wish to attend 'The Thing' are highly encouraged to, as it is often a large gathering this would be an excellent time and place to come and peddle your wares. I would also like to ask that anyone with a 'Bard in the Box' please come find me, I would very much like to rent it for the evening. Finally if you are wishing to Donate to 'The Thing' to make it as good as we can the current needs are -a silver spear (sybil prize) -a hunters bow (sybil prize) -a fine hammer for smithing (magnora's prize) -as many remedies as you can spare (we will likely need them) Thank you all, I will post an update here if anything changes. RE: The Thing - Ancel Belmont - 06-26-2018 Bikar, I would like to donate a bow to your prize pool. I will deliver it to you before the start of your event. -Ancel Belmont |
