A Warning Regarding a Mummy - Dr. Moran - 09-17-2017

Ralinwood,

While sitting at the fire Dante and I were attacked by what appeared to be a greater mummy. It was slightly different than those I have seen before, but I wasn't able to get a very good look at it before it literally ripped Dante's heart out of his chest and tried to eat it. The creature did not say much beyond "I want your heart". It then proceeded to do the same to me and then wander away.

A man named Alfred aided us and explained that he wandered into a strange portal and found the thing's tomb, possibly setting the thing loose in the process. Either way, there is now a very powerful undead walking around tearing out hearts in search of its own. This thing can be slain though, as with all undead, approach with caution. Mummies can do a lot of cursing and if it gets close enough to grab you, you're probably gonna lose a certain necessary organ.

There is a chance we won't be able to put it down for good without finding whatever portal Alfred went through and destroying its sarcophagus. Or maybe this is a weird one. That said, please do not walk into strange portals alone. Walk in with friends and people who can deal magical damage.

Penned by Dante for Ursel.

It might be friendly. Make sure you subdue it first and ask it about it's hopes and dreams.

If it just keeps saying 'I want your heart' maybe it's okay to kill it.

RE: A Warning Regarding a Mummy - Eris Crownsilver - 09-18-2017

When going through caves last weekend, we encountered a Mummy. Remember Ursel?

There is a high chance that if it was the same one, that he has a Sarcophagus somewhere within a week of here.

Stay Safe, Eris Crownsilver

RE: A Warning Regarding a Mummy - Rajani the Dark - 09-18-2017

Rajani has asked me to remind everyone that this, like all undead, is of particular danger to our Savar population. Don't let them (particularly the young one) come with you to attack undead. It will not work out in any of our favour.

Should any Savar ask to go on this mission, send them to speak to Rajani first.

The one in the caves was a lesser mummy as far as I know. This one was greater. I could be wrong but I suspect this one was different. Alfred said that he came out of the portal in a tomb, not a cave.

Ursel, perhaps it is best if we deal with this soon.

I literally got my heart ripped out, no part of me is advocating for us to put this off. The thing is, the creature was gone when I awoke. The moment we find it or the portal again we're killing it.

While I lack the formal training you have, Ursel, I have come to recognize that certain undead are notorious for how they prey on the living. Paralyzing, screaming, that sort of thing. Do you know what we should we expect?

Mummies as a whole throw a lot of curses around. Otherwise they're not as bad as some other undead I've seen in this town. Lesser ones you ash them and you're done. Greater ones have a big fancy box like a vampire's coffin and you have to smash it to make them stop coming back. This was a greater but it seemed a bit weird so I don't know if normal rules apply to it.
