Backstories are an important part of character creation - and backstories must be submitted to our Shaper team for review / approval.
Having an approved backstory ensures that your character is doing things he's supposed to be doing / knows what he's supposed to know... And it benefits us by ensuring that we can target you in all the best ways! Meaning, if we want to hook certain plot lines we can use your backstory to let YOU be the hook! We have more than once set out NPCs from people's pasts, and we look forward to doing it more often this year.
Every new character should have a backstory submitted to our Shaper team for approval. If you haven't attended an event yet, having an approved backstory is the only way to get into our forums. If you HAVE attended an event, having an approved backstory is still to YOUR benefit!
We recently assigned a shaper to manage our backstories, and he is (clearly) eager to get going! He's gone through the past emails in the official backstories email and has approved everything that is sitting in there.
If you haven't heard back, that means we probably haven't received your backstory, or it was lost in the shuffle between new owners / bringing in the new shaper team. Daniel was reviewing and keeping up with them as best as he could, and we did think that we'd reviewed them all, but if we missed some, we don't want you to miss out! If you haven't heard back for months and months, we apologize for missing you. Please feel free to re-submit your backstory to: backstories@underworldralinwood.ca

is there a way to have a dialogue over the backstory? or is is more of a submit it and its pass/fail situation, because my backstory has had to be pretty amorphous do to overwhelming ignorance of the game world on my part.

NPLs are happy to help you with your backstory before you submit it. Make sure it all makes sense. (I am an NPL. I know all the damn lore. Just message me, James.)
