Teaching (August 15, 2 PM) - Lilith Caia - 08-15-2016 Lilith and Riven are seated at the edge of the tavern, facing into the crowd of demons. Lilith points out various demons. "This is an imp - irritating little things, very excitable, but quite weak. They have the clownlike grins. They can be dispatched with a single ego whip." She points at another demon. "That is a common lesser demon. No particular subtype. Why are you doing this to me." She points at another demon. "A hellhound - a great number of the demons we saw on Friday evening were hellhounds. These generally act as foot soldiers for a commander you should be able to find nearby. Indeed, the Grim generally used them. More difficult to deal with than imps." RE: Teaching (August 15, 2 PM) - Neviah - 08-15-2016 *A burning bundle of twigs is thrown right up next to the wood fae, a screaming giggle sounding in the distance.* RE: Teaching (August 15, 2 PM) - Lilith Caia - 08-15-2016 Lilith glances down at the bundle of twigs with an expression of boredom. "That one is a dredge - a greater one, despite the apparent immaturity," she says, mildly, to Riven. RE: Teaching (August 15, 2 PM) - Riven Shadowlight - 08-15-2016 Riven follows behind listening intently while taking notes. He looks up at the burning twigs and channels some ice magic to douse the flames. He looks to Lilith "So if I wanted to make a deal with any, under regular circumstances, would that be the type of demon I'd want to talk to?" RE: Teaching (August 15, 2 PM) - Lilith Caia - 08-15-2016 Lilith shakes her head. "A demon like that is a bit less stable than the sort I'd like to deal with - and rather more bloodthirsty. Of course, the demon you deal with is dependent on what you're looking for. More powerful demons can provide you with more extensive benefits, various demons are more interested in some things than others - I know some who are very interested in granting blood magic, and some who near abhor it, for example. Demons are, first and foremost, people. You may go to a dwarf for a helmet as a first assumption, but you may also find dealing with Roland substantially more beneficial to you." RE: Teaching (August 15, 2 PM) - Riven Shadowlight - 08-15-2016 He nods in understanding and surveys the hoard. His eyes rest on the Balrog. "There's so many. The cultists couldn't have possibly hoped to control all of them. Can making a deal or binding a greater demon give you access to their legions as well?" RE: Teaching (August 15, 2 PM) - Lilith Caia - 08-15-2016 "That is the question, isn't it? Demons can make deals with other demons, or control others in various ways. If a demon is patron to underlings, they could also be forced to complete the work the patron is bound to. Which makes me wonder - did the cult make a deal with a demon powerful enough to control all of these, or did he make a great number of deals? The demons I've heard from didn't enter the deal willingly, so he would likely have had to use a ritual summoning to enslave them - and a very powerful one. It's possible he was working for a demon as well... Which makes me wonder who has power enough to be behind all this. A human ritualist, or a demon lord seeking a way out of hell? I haven't seen seen any particular signs of madness in the cultists, or I would be very, very worried we might be looking at Nilestomus." RE: Teaching (August 15, 2 PM) - Riven Shadowlight - 08-15-2016 Riven tilts his head a little. "Nilestomus?" RE: Teaching (August 15, 2 PM) - Lilith Caia - 08-15-2016 "A god among demons, in power, at least. It drives mortals to madness. It doesn't generally concern itself with our plane, but I'm told it cannot manifest here directly but through agents, which would explain the cult leader. Although I suppose it is a bit of a stretch to think it Nileistomus, the more I think of it. The cult could simply be required because both planes must help create the tear through them." RE: Teaching (August 15, 2 PM) - Neviah - 08-15-2016 *A larger bundle of burning twigs, this one with smoking hair, arcs its way towards Riven's chest. A few demons scream and laugh as it flies.* |
