Trapsmithing Questions - Grollog - 10-07-2015 So just some clarification on how trapsmithing works. What do people use for reps? In the rule book it say for basic rat trap have to use small mouse traps for trigger. But how do I rep the "container" of traps? For instance if someone makes an explosive trap, do they only need to outline the "container" and place the small mouse trap in the middle so when it snaps the trap triggers? Would you place the tag on the trigger so they can see what happens? Side question: what do people use to waterproof tags? RE: Trapsmithing Questions - MM/NPL Dustin - 10-07-2015 I'll refer you to a video of how I made a basic alarm trap rep. Only thing to keep in mind is the rep has to be contained in a 5"x5"x5" box. I just built the box around it with EVA foam mats, punched some decent-sized holes in the box so the sound wouldn't be muffled and covered it with camouflage/green duct tape. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kWor_k_z19g RE: Trapsmithing Questions - MM/NPL Dustin - 10-07-2015 Also, to waterproof your tags, laminate them by sandwitching them between two pieces of packing tape. RE: Trapsmithing Questions - Grollog - 10-07-2015 Well this solves two questions. Would something like this tripwire alarm be suitable for an area of effect trap though? RE: Trapsmithing Questions - MM/NPL Dustin - 10-07-2015 As long as the container is suitable and the trip-wire isn't longer than the area of the trap, the rep I believe can work for pretty much any trap. Don't quote me on that, I'm not a shaper ![]() RE: Trapsmithing Questions - Grollog - 10-07-2015 So what would I use as a container? That's the term just don't understand most. Some rope for the outline on the ground? Or would I use something such as 'chemicals' in a bottle (like in each corner) or something to show the actual size of the trap? The easiest explanation then: A trip wire area effect would connect a string from the trigger to say some explosives of the appropriate size. If the trip wire was triggered it would go off and anything within 5 ft of the 'explosives' would be hit by it? RE: Trapsmithing Questions - MM/NPL Dustin - 10-07-2015 Take eva mat foam, make a box of the dimensions given by the rulebook. Cut a hole in the box for the tripwire, put the box over the rig. RE: Trapsmithing Questions - Grollog - 10-07-2015 Thanks I believe I have an idea of everything now. Now just to find a more detailed video/explanation for the mouse trap trigger. I am not technically inclined so am interested in how to make it without it it being a tripping hazard. RE: Trapsmithing Questions - Jacob Kraye - 10-07-2015 I can explain it better in person. Speak to me at next game. I'll explain how some of the reps work and traps I've seen in the past. RE: Trapsmithing Questions - Grollog - 10-08-2015 I found this video. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=8VsRqxoEhwY If I was to do this but not do it as tight as them, enclose one of the pegs in a box would this pass as a trap? Also edit: I understand 1rm and 1pp for each trigger or trap etc. (What would that cost in silver at log in place of the raw materials?) |
