Event Review - In Times of War - Sierra Katrian - 06-14-2015 Alright folks, it's that time again. Let's hear the reviews. The good! The bad! Anything you wanted to see but didn't! Anything you saw go out but didn't want to! We love reviews because it helps us know what we are doing are right and wrong, thus making the game better for everyone. If you would like to submit a private message to the owners letting them know if you liked the event or if you have any concerns, you may email them at contact@underworldralinwood.ca RE: Event Review - In Times of War - Gustav Von Schattenkrieger - 06-14-2015 Thank you to the owners, Plot members, NPCs, and PCs that have made this weekend an enjoyable weekend. Pros: - NO MASSIVE!!!! This event was a challenging event, in my opinion, without the use of massive damage. I can't speak for anyone else but I had a number of "oh shit I might die here" moments without the use of massive damage being used this event. The Plot team, Monster Marshal, and NPCs were the cause of these moment and didn't need to use that type of damage to be able to get the PCs to run. If this trend continues this season will only get better in my opinion. - The White Company mod was enjoyable and well run. Roving bands of NPCs attempting to capture people and ransom them off, stealing supplies and spoils from the PCs, and the fight and fade tactics being used made for an enjoyable mod. I even led a squad of PCs out to hunt the hunters and, though we didn't encounter any of the roving parties of mercenaries at point it was still fun to stalk through the woods at night hunting them. - The Orc battle following the White Company raid was unexpected and lots of fun too. The NPCs were statted appropriately and the fighting was intense. Much enjoyment in my opinion. - RPing with Lord Curum. Ryan......good job sir. ![]() - No late night Kobold cleaner to disturb what little sleep I was getting do to PC drama and PvP. Would not have been as lenient this time around as I was the last time - Stilettoing Matt Campbell's new character thinking he was a White Company assassin followed by stilettoing Slower after being stabbed in the hand as his way of stopping me from killing blowing Matt's character. The drama surrounding this event was amusing - Saturday Barge Battle was awesome. Loved how the game mechanics were set up and executed. The limitted maneuvering space and the consequences of going into the water and me VERY leery of approaching any side of the "barge" we were on. The fighting was intense and the roles well statted. - Winning the weapons tournament and all the questioning I received over who's weapon I decided to sharpen Orcs cheat in tournament......for shame Slower lol ![]() - Late night Stealth mod was enjoyable though I grumbled about being woken up after a couple of hours of sleep with being exhausted. Once it got going it was fun. Thanks for the bone being tossed to those of us who actually got out of bed to make the mod happen. - Killing the thing that was attacking and attackedby the Brood Saturday afternoon - No wake up Kobold Sunday morning. Was so tired from Friday/Saturday that one would not have been received well Sunday morning - Sunday final battle was pretty great. Killing the final boss pretty much solo was awesome. - Loot distribution was decent this game. Still seeing alot of RM tags being handed out which undermines the need for a noble that's benefit is selling RM at cheaper prices but the other rewards were decent to great depending on what was dropped. The big baddies did have some good stuff this time around so was alarge improvement from the previous event - RP with the members of Emerald Company......love RPing with you guys. - RP with the various non-Emerald Company members that I had. You guys and Emerald Company helped to keep an awesome event awesome when things did slow down at times. Cons: - Some of the combat was a tad aggressive and swings weren't pulled to not hurt people at times. This is not a complaint for myself this time around. I witnessed some NPCs and Plot members taking some pretty horrendous head shots and body shots period. I'm one of the harder hitters at times so am not pointing fingers but when attacking try to watch how hard you are hitting the smaller in stature PCs and NPCs as well as the feminine ones. As a large guy I'm not likely to complain about hard hits unless you are hitting an illegal strike zone or break one of my weapons, but, some can't handle more than the taps that are supposed to be use so take that into consideration when attacking someone. To those who head shotted Cat Mercer multiple times in one combat role you owe her a major apology and be grateful she wasn't injured from the strikes that were too hard and to an illegal strike zone. RE: Event Review - In Times of War - River_forestwolven - 06-14-2015 Good: Primrose- this girl needs Oscar for her work this weekend- not only for her healing, but for her acting! Holy shit having her run in to the cabin on Saturday morning screaming and crying about Arcadeus was heart breaking. Lazar- his goodbye speech for Arcadeus was so heartbreaking, I dont think anyone had a dry eyes after he was done. NPCing a Kolbolt: I love these cute little guys. Seeing my first Einher Funeral- this was beautifully done. The Loot was awesome this game, I have never gotten chance to Loot before this weekend. My first kill!! To Jeff for helping me all weekend with all my (possible annoying) questions. Bad: We only have one town doctor now. RE: Event Review - In Times of War - Szhmhlaer - 06-14-2015 I liked this game +Pacing seemed good +PvP was great +Jon Blackshadow is the coolest +Cassan mod was greatawful -wish i could have enjoyed the Saturday content but I know that's more my own fault RE: Event Review - In Times of War - Primrose - 06-14-2015 PROS - Totally proved my point that people really love my RP when I'm on the ground sobbing IG. - Lots of character development and conflict for Primrose. I've really noticed how much she's changed since I first brought her in (and how much I've changed too!). - Bjorn's roleplay. Oh man dude your acting is amazing and heartbreaking. - White Company plot was better than I expected. I really enjoy plot that's not 'you have to fight or you die' or 'you fucked up- you die', but more 'here's a problem. how will you deal with it?' and 'here's your consequence, but we're not killing your character.' - Slowly piecing together the mystery of the Arcadeus VS Red Robin events. I'm probably PVP's biggest (shortest?) hater but this was at the very least entertaining. - The NPC's coming out for the bragging contest and Primrose winning. Good NPC's and great prize! (Booze) CONS - IG conflict, while fun, takes a lot out of me emotionally and it went on all weekend. This event was very taxing on me and I kind of want to curl up and sleep for the next few days. - I found a tick in my hair! I have put him in an empty potion bottle and need a name. - While I love combat I feel like this game had a little too much. There wasn't really any downtime. I would love some more roleplay NPCs, or mods that require more than just beating the problem into the ground. - Some grey-area meta might have happened and it's upset me and a few other people. I hope that it gets sorted out. ![]() This event, while a lot happened, was overall alright. Also a reminder to everyone to check for ticks! RE: Event Review - In Times of War - Lilith Caia - 06-15-2015 This game was super fun. Time to transfer over Caia.Positive: - The barge fight was really amazing and well done. It was great. Can't emphasize that enough. - Being part of the White Company mod and getting to be a smart NPC was great - Prim's yelling on Saturday morning was good enough that I don't mind that it woke me up - Finding interesting things in the woods - I was very amused that the Muse ritual wasn't a trap - Swiggins is my hero - Cantrips seem really cool. It's always very clear here that the shapers are working to make the game better and more interesting. Thanks, guys. - Boars that act like boars - Getting to take part in sentencing handsy justice ![]() - Nobody gives a shit about Magnar - The people I hallucinogened did a really good job roleplaying it - My mom had a great time. Thank you to everyone for talking to her and making her feel welcome. She said that Gwen was wonderful/nice about twenty times on the ride home - Thank you, Brad, for making sure that I was okay multiple times after the next point Negative: - Within one battle as an NPC, I was hit in the head twice, and had the wind knocked out of me by body weapons about four times. Kyrem/Dustin, Wizwik/Shane, for the love of god, you do not need to hit me that hard. I didn't recognise the other people who were doing that, but please calm down. I like NPCing at Ralinwood, except for the fighting. You guys hit way too hard here. Calm down. - Please either wear underwear or stick to positions that do not expose your genitals to everyone. Team "We brought our parents to game" had a very awkward time with that. RE: Event Review - In Times of War - Wizwik - 06-15-2015 =< im sorry Lilith, I felt horrible for doing so and tried my best to pull my stabs and if I hit anyone in the head I am so so sorry =< RE: Event Review - In Times of War - River_forestwolven - 06-15-2015 yes, WEAR UNDERWEAR!! RE: Event Review - In Times of War - Zshlwre - 06-15-2015 Pros: -The pacing of this game was very much spot on, despite all the hiccups PCs threw at NPC camp, you guys just did a great job on this. -All of the mods were run really really well, even though most of them were a bit experimental. That means a lot to see these mechanics and ideas get executed so smoothly, you guys really killed it when it came to these. -The props for the goat where really really delightful, it helped our RP so much and just made the experience all around better. When the shaper team helps us make our own RP better, that feels really great. -I really enjoyed both Daniel's portrayal as an old farming lady and the ridiculous molestation problems and ensuing trial. Seeing the PC's hand get cut off was both rewarding and immersive. -The barge mod was of course really well done, I'm not sure how you guys got so many npcs to perform as well as they did but great job. -The stealth mod was super enjoyable and memorable, both in the lead up to it and the execution itself. It was probably our shortest mod to date but every second of it was great. -The final mod was just what we needed as a chapter after the exhausting weekend leading up to it. It was just moderately challenging good ol combat, and it was run well executed and fairly. All around, it feels like NPC camp is really getting into integrating better, it's very often that subtle changes make significant changes in feeling, even if the changes are imperceptible. I feel like something similar is happening in Ralinwood, where all the pieces are shaping together, and it feels great. -Cons: Rules: The orcs that would hunter snare themselves to the boats would only be snared for 10 seconds, because you cannot maintain line of sight of yourself. Also, if they repel then snare, the snare would break the concentration being used on the repel. Not only is the above con extremely minor, it honestly made for great RP so I'm not that sad about it. I am really curious to see how this season goes, I think Ralinwood is going to come out of it very different on the other end, but in the mean time you guys are really finding your stride as a chapter and I refuse to miss a single game this year. RE: Event Review - In Times of War - Gustav Von Schattenkrieger - 06-15-2015 You're welcome, Cat |
