Clarify? Troll regeneration vs Fire - MM/NPL Dustin - 05-10-2015
Can a shaper, preferably a monster marshal clarify this for me?
How does troll regen work vs fire
I'm aware they take extra damage from fire and fire stops them from regenerating, however if fire stops them from regenerating, why were people so insistent on using a magic fire killing blow if simply damaging them with fire prevents them from regenerating at all?

Monsters and the monster manual are one of the rule sets that are not commonly available to players and include many rules that won't be found in public documents. Part of the reason for this is because your character doesn't necessarily know and understand exactly how each and every enemy ticks.
As much as I hate to say this, I think the answer to your question is best to be explored in character. If you are concerned that an NPC has been using any rules incorrectly you should contact a shaper directly and they will be able to help you out with specific situations.
