masks - A goblin played by Matty - 07-14-2014

Hey , Ive been thinking of adding a mask to my armor and I'm wondering if anyone has had experience. Is it horribly uncomfortable? Specifically if anyone knows the avian who had the amazing steam punk mask.

Masks can be very comfortable, but they can also be very UNcomfortable. They also get VERY sweaty, VERY fast. I play a Risen at UW Jericho, and the little amount of time I do spend in my mask, which I made for my own face, is long enough.

If you plan on making one, make sure that it is made to fit your face, and not someone elses.

Lastly, the Avian you are referring to is a player from UW Kalidor named Chris/Weasel. Both of his characters (Paresh and Nobody) have masks.

I'm not sure I remember what sort of mask that Chris had on. Was it one of the half face masks that cover the lower face? Anyone got a link to a photo?

Before this sounds creepy, I'm an artist and I appreciate the mask because it was steam punk. Plus I wanted to buy it. Anyway, It covered the noes and came down just below the cheek. It was awesome. And paired with the glasses. Smart choice.

Thank you for your insight. I really liked his mask too . It really fit the theme he was going for.

RE: masks - Victor - 07-16-2014

I've found I prefer working in plaster just for how solid it is. Plus it fits directly to my face so it is absolutely comfortable. However, as NPC Sierra mentioned, sweating happens quite quickly with most types of masks. So maybe consider a moisture absorbing layer to keep your mask from becoming saturated. Also consider how easy you will be able to speak with the mask on if it will go over your mouth and how well other players will be able to hear your calls.
