RE: Training with Jarl Grimnir - Calidonia - 01-13-2015 *She pulls her main hand, sword and all, back and uses the movement to bring her shield across her chest. She brings the shield up, and ducks low, allowing the longsword to glance the top. She then brings her blade back around towards Grimnir, using the momentum to pull her back up.* RE: Training with Jarl Grimnir - Sigurd Vask - 01-13-2015 He smirks as she spins her body to dodge and strike, nodding as he twists his thrust into a block, the sword locking against her own as he braced himself, "Who taught you? They did well." RE: Training with Jarl Grimnir - Calidonia - 01-13-2015 *She jumps back, panting lightly* My older brother for the most part. My father taught me enough so I didn't harm myself with a blade, but Erik was the one to teach me to use it. Otherwise, I'm self-taught. RE: Training with Jarl Grimnir - Sigurd Vask - 01-13-2015 "Well you have all done well, you press the attack very well." Grimnir walks to his pack and pulls out a waterskin, "Breathe a moment and take a drink." Tossing the skin to her after taking a drink himself. "Your defense is not bad, but you give ground very easily." RE: Training with Jarl Grimnir - Calidonia - 01-13-2015 *Takes a drink from the water skin, before shaking her head.* I noticed that too. Even when I try to stay further out, I end up too close. Any suggestions? RE: Training with Jarl Grimnir - Sigurd Vask - 01-13-2015 "Less distance on your swings. Keep your form tighter, leave very few openings so that only a foe can find them." He walks to her, sheathing his sword, "Take your stance, I shall point out where you leave openings." RE: Training with Jarl Grimnir - Calidonia - 01-13-2015 *She stands up straight, bringing her shield up and slightly off the the left. She stands with her right foot slightly back and her blade on the right side of her shield. Her left elbow is close to her body, but her right elbow is further out and back.* RE: Training with Jarl Grimnir - Sigurd Vask - 01-13-2015 "Not terrible, but it is a basic stance." He walks around her and eyes each placement carefully, "Your shield should be covering most of your body to your foe, present that side first. Tighten your right arm to your body and when you go to strike, do not strike straight. Step past your foe, aim to swing past their front defenses. If you are always side stepping you will be that much harder to hit, and your shield will always be facing their weapons." RE: Training with Jarl Grimnir - Calidonia - 01-13-2015 *She shifts her arms, bringing her shield more to the cente and her right arm close to her side.* So, more like this? *She steps forward, swinging her blade, before stepping off to the left and keeping the shield in front.* RE: Training with Jarl Grimnir - Sigurd Vask - 01-13-2015 "Not bad. Step as you swing. Use your shield as a barrier between yourself and your foe. You are protecting yourself and striking in one movement." Grimnir guides her shield to cover her body. "You step past your foe and their attack. You defend while striking." |
