Mardi leans across the table towards Iris as far as his small frame will allow, and addresses her in deathly-serious tones: "So. Important question....... do you know any drinking songs?"

Iris smiles at Mardi.
"What a question! You can't live in Melinda for any length of time and not pick up a few. I've got a good one called the Linden Pub Crawl, but you can't do it justice if you're already silly-drunk. It's sung in a specific order, you see, and it can be hard to follow if you're addled to start with."

Mardi grins right back. "Well, you can't *hic* y'can't get a drinking song right without making an utter hash of it at least once first, right? And if there's anything I'm good at, it's drinkin', songs, and making a hash of things! So whaddya say, the words to Linden Pub Crawl as fair exchange for a drink, eh?

"That's a fair deal. Alright, this is how is goes. The verse is always the same, 'cept you change the name of the pub you're at in every verse. And at the end of the verse, you have to remember the list of all the pubs you've been to, starting with the one you've just been at.
So the first verse goes:
We all went in to Kitty Mcgee's for we're a jolly crew /
We all went in to Kitty Mcgee's to have a drink or two /
Kitty Mcgee's, in Linden town upon the crawl /
A hell of a time was had by all /
Down where the ale and whiskey flew.
But by the last verse, you've got to have all the names of all the pubs in Linden, so it goes:
We all went in to Lannigan's pub for we're a jolly crew /
We all went in to Lannigan's for a final drink or two /
Lannigan's, Flannigan's, Milligan's, Gilligan's, Rafferty's, Cafferty's, Dillon's, McQuillan's,
McCleary's, O'Leary's, O'Hegarty's, Kitty Mcgee's, in Linden town upon the crawl /
A hell of a time was had by all /
Down where the beer and whiskey flew."
*Iris hiccups after the last verse, and giggles.*

Mardi scribbles frantically in his notebook. "Lannigan's... Flannigans... Bobberty... Shmobberty... hrm. Nope, not a bit of it! Good song though!" He slides over another mug of the good stuff with a grin.
"Here's one for you though, you might enjoy it. See, the chorus is all twisty-twiney and twirls your tongue worse than a Witchhunter, and you start fast and every time through you gotta go even faster... here..."
He hops up on a bench and starts tapping out time with his foot.
"There's a neat little lass and her name is Mari Mac
Make no mistake, she's the girl I'm gonna track
Lot of other fellas try to get her on her back
But I'm thinking that they'll have to get up early!

"...oh bugger, lost the rest. Ah well. Maybe next time." He hops back down, still grinning, eyes twinkling, evidently not the least bit embarrassed for the flub.
